Can anyone recommend cordless phones for me?

My cordless phone is on it's last legs and I think it's time to spend some of the dosh I've saved on a new one. What I want is a base station with a digital answering machine and a couple of extra basic handsets. I am not sure what I need to buy, do they all have to be the same model and do the second and third handsets plug into BT sockets or just into the mains when on the cradle?

These phones are refurbished (hence the price) which seems to mean the cardboard box the phones come in is tatty but the contents are brand-new!

Well they arrived this morning, just doing the 24 hour charge to condition the batteries, we got the three phones for just over £46 delivered and while the outer box is a bit tatty the phones look brand new. Thanks again...:)

I got a dual Panasonic DECT phone last week fortunately it came with 2xAA NiMH batteries for each phone so I shoved them in a charger and put some spare 2xAA in each phone which were already charged up. That we I can still use the phone without waiting for a full charge. Also they charged up quicker no doubt in a fast charger than using the phones in built charger.

The battery in the Philips is like 2 AAA size batteries welded together in plastic so I can't really get round the charging time, I can wait till tomorrow morning to try them out properly though but thanks for the idea Shrek.

Argh I know what you mean my last phone had that type of battery.

Anyhow hope you find phone good dont forget to use the 18866 phone service for very cheap calls

I need a phone with an answering machine that can be accessed by me remotely (when on holiday) do you know any with this facility. I have an old BT one that we can do that on but we have lost the handset, think it got threw out with some rubbish from sons cesspit of a bedroom
