french/german tv

Options
I have a skybox and satellite currently but can't get european tv and its getting a bit too pricey with sky anyway. I think in the package i had i bought the box. Can i get foreign channels or convert it to just the freeview channels if i cancel the subscription? One of my favourite programmes that i got the box for was projekt zukunft which came as both german and english programmes separated by a short break but that channel has been ditched by sky since. If there's no way of getting foreign channels from what we have already (kika would be a favourite) does anyone know the best way to get them and if i have to get a different box/new satellite where is the best way to go and get one.

You can't get Freeview via a satellite dish, it's a terrestial service via an aerial. If you cancel your sub you will get the Freesat from Sky channels.
Would a Freesat box be a better option? You can also get European channels on that using the non-Freesat mode.
Which satellite do the German channels you require come from?

List of channels (free) with satellite names, most delivered to the UK, some spot beams are focused on Eastern Europe including 1KR, some channels are only temporarily on 13E whilst German forces are in middle east.

Cheaper to install for just one satellite but not too expensive to receive more.

Depending where you are in the country you will need a 60-80cm dish for 19.2E cost all in for supply and fit with a basic new stb would be around £150
