I'd go back to him and ask him if he can do a behind-the-doors deal leaving in-toto out of it...he sounds like an entrepreneur to me and tried to get what you wanted rather than what InToto couldn't give you!

I believe he tried that (without informing us) but had no success.

A little honesty goes a long way and I'm afraid I wouldn't deal with him again.

    Thanks,

Yes very underhand i agree but depends how desperate you are for that particular kitchen i guess. Not sure where you would stand with guarantees etc though. If he'd have managed to supply it you probably would have been none the wiser!

I doubt we would have known anything about it, unless/until any problems cropped up during installation or afterwards. I imagine it would have voided the guarantee. And the KBSA Deposit Protection Insurance Policy Intoto Plymouth banged on about at every available opportunity, and which I received after we paid the deposit, certainly wouldn't have been worth the paper it was printed on. The contract was between me as the client and Intoto Plymouth as the supplier.

We weren't desperate to secure that particular kitchen. On our initial visit to the showroom, we were told that certain ranges could be supplied in any RAL colour, something which appealed to us and prompted us to choose Intoto. Initially, we thought we were having designs done for a Geba (Intoto brand) kitchen, as featured in the showroom, but Leicht then suddenly appeared on the quotation. (I believe Geba either went into administration or stopped supplying kitchens in the UK. Intoto Plymouth didn't explain the switch.) So, it's not as though we set out to have a Leicht kitchen. The choice of manufacturer was entirely Intoto Plymouth's.

Not sure you should be naming the guy for public flogging..especially after his apology..maybe edit his name out?
stuff him, he is happy to appear in the local paper etc promoting his business, went against company policy using un authorised suppliers.

  • Howden's kitchens are...OK. Ish. They're adequate. Hardly special, though. And avoid their appliances as though they had a big red cross painted on the front of each box, followed by a bloke with a bell calling out, 'bring out yer dead ovens!
