I'd be inclined to think the reason they have decided to cancel is that they have undercosted it (i.e. they got the price back from the manufacturer and it is more than they expected) and therefore didn't want to lose money/break even

Do you know which manufacturer it was?

I wondered about this, too. The manufacturer was Leicht. I've emailed them to try to clarify the situation.

    Thanks,

No, I think it was called Classic FS. Or some such. Why do you ask?

No reason, was just wondering :)
  • After a bit of digging around (the kitchen company haven't bothered to reply to my email requesting clarification), I've got to the bottom of the cancellation mystery. In-toto franchisees are only authorised to sell In-toto/Alno brand kitchens. Leicht don't supply In-toto. (They've confirmed this.)

In attempting to supply us with a Leicht kitchen, the franchisee was operating "by the back door". In the nine months we spent working on the designs, he didn't mention that he wasn't authorised to order a kitchen from Leicht or that there might be problems or delays in attempting to do so. Indeed, as recently as 21 January, he was still claiming to be able to supply the kitchen, despite the fact that Leicht had declined the order.

So, nine months wasted. And some less than transparent dealings.

    Hello greek

We are a leicht dealer and can help you with this. The Classic FS is a smooth lacquer finish. If you can PM me I can cost it for you.

I've now had a response from In-toto HQ. It reads as follows:

"Firstly, on behalf of In-toto kitchens we would like to apologise for the inconvenience caused to you and your husband. We do appreciate that choosing a new kitchen can be very time consuming.

You are quite correct, Leicht are not one of our chosen suppliers and in purchasing a kitchen from outside our approve suppliers; xx at In-toto Plymouth would have been breaking his Franchise Agreement with ourselves. We certainly do not approve of his behaviour and we can assure you that he has been seriously reprimanded for his actions.

We are disappointed that we have been unable to fulfil your requirements on this occasion and hope that you are able to source the kitchen you wanted from another kitchen retailer.

Once again, please accept our apologies for the inconvenience cause."

(The typos/punctuation errors are theirs, by the way .)

Thanks. None of them stocks Leicht, though, so we're having to go further afield to get the kitchen we want.

Not sure you should be naming the guy for public flogging..especially after his apology..maybe edit his name out?

The apology was from Intoto HQ, though. The chap in question didn't bother to respond to my email asking for an explanation of what had gone wrong.

I'm happy to edit out his name, but it seems fair enough to alert people to the problems we had with Intoto Plymouth.

    Thanks,
