2x Composite Door Quote

Hello,
I've just moved house and the doors are old wooden ones with bad locks, they are quite sturdy but they keep swelling so we decided to shop around for doors...
We particularly like the composite ones, mainly because of the look of them and the quality of the overall doors (as well as the security) seems to be better than UPVC...
So I contacted a local company and they came out and took some measurements, just got the quote today. For the front and back door its going to cost near £2500, this includes handles, letter box and the glass inside.
Front door has little glass in it, the back one has more to let the light in, but I was expecting it to be around £2000 at the top end, to my knowledge even Rock Doors are only about £800 and to my knowledge they only take about a day to fit (if that), when you know what you are doing...
Anyway I was recommended this place by a friend, but the costs seem quite steep and it unfortunately doesn't break down the price, so im not sure whats costing what...

Should be around a grand each tbh. If you in the Midlands I can give you details of the place who fitted mine.0 -
Up in the North West near Chester
There are a few other companies i'm going to try in the area, to see what they quote but I was just expecting something <= £2000 really...
I have heard from lots of sources that Rock Doors are some of the best composite doors around, but i'm a bit unsure how you get them, as they don't seem to fit them so you have to find a fitter yourself and I don't really know where to get them from...
Is it better to get the door yourself and just hire someone to fit it? (I would be worried about this as I hear a lot of a doors problems come from bad fitting)
Anyway thanks in advance for any help or advice0 -
Try Class-plas if they will travel to you (based in Cheadle). We had front door (composite) from them for £600. We chose not to have any glass, the door is red on the outside and the frame is mahogany, all white inside.
Honestly - they gave us the best price ever, and we did have a few quotes. (Including one for £3.6k!). This includes the letter box, handle, "knocker" with spyglass. This is for Rehau door. We went into the shop and saw the doors they have, and chose Rehau. They also do Eiger doors, but we preferred the Rehau ones.
We also got back door, but we went for a fully glazed one to get more light in the kitchen (I have to say, it made a big difference) and that one was £540.
Edit: I live near Chorley, and they took the job, it is just over 30 miles I think for them, they might come to you too. The company was recommended by someone from MSE.Spring into Spring 2015 - 0.7/12lb0 -

Rockdoor in our opinion and others in the industry are the best .We are approved Rockdoor installers and could probally find you an installer in your areaif you think peoples advice is helpfull please take the time to clicking the thank you button it gives great satisfaction0 -
Is there a website or way you can lookup approved installers?, as on their website I couldn't seem to find anything in this area...
I am also unsure about when I buy a *door* to be fitted... is it actually a door and a frame i'm buying, or just a door (and the frame is seperate?)
I'm pretty sure the door needs a frame to be installed so most places just say you are buying a door, but in actual fact you are buying the frame and door seperately...0 -
No their is no installer list on Rockdoor site if you would like to pm your details i will pass on to rockdoorif you think peoples advice is helpfull please take the time to clicking the thank you button it gives great satisfaction0

If you are still looking I have no idea about Rock... doors etc, however we got a Yale composite door fitted, you can choose everything online and get an instant quote the one we ordered was about £786 with everything (except keyless entry - couldn't justify that) police approved etc, they are also offering £300 discount if you buy a second door.

I had a yaleDoor as well. Simple, quick, and really well priced. Looks fantastic.0

will require new frames though?0

It will need new frames too, as its just got old wooden ones there at the moment.
I was after a mahogany front and back (the front having very little glass), with all the handles and knockers. There would need to be frames done for both front and back.
I was mainly just wondering if £2500 seems too high, im not thinking its a rip-off quote, just I was expecting around £2000ish as top end figure...0
