Existing o2 customer, upgraded - whoops!

Hi there,

Been with o2 over 12 months with their phone and BB package, was paying £23.50 a month for both (that included the anytime calls package).

Was heavily impressed with the quality and service but then I got a phone call asking me to renew as my contract had run out (about 3 months ago iirc).

Went with the 'all rounder' package and less than a week in i'm already suffering from the new 'fair usage' policy.

Usual download speeds of 450kb/s are down to a rotten 10kb/s as I type.

I'm still in the 30 day cancellation period and am now seriously conisidering moving, but who to?

I've just read through a few differnet threads on here and BT seem to be able to offer something similar but i'm not 100% sure.

In conclusion, I'm looking for a BB package that will allow me to continue to game, download and browse without being 'capped' or 'throttled' with a phone package included (ideally including anytime calls) for less than £20, is this possible?

I did exactly the same thing, renewed my contract and got put on the all rounder package. Its pants, it really is. I'm lucky to get 50kb/s out of it at 3am. I'll be looking for a new provider once the 12 months is up thats for sure.

Why didn't you just stay with the package you had?

Well I didn't realise how bad the capping would be, it was only until I noticed it myself and then looked on here that I discovered it.

Luckily I'm still in the 30-day period so I can cancel it. My girlfriend is on Orange and we had a bit of mail yesterday about their broadband and phone - it seems ok but what are they like as a provider?

Can anyone recommend any other options?

    Thanks

Move to Be. Same network but no throttling.

ask to go back on the old package, your exchange may not have the capability for the new speed. Myn gives a max of 8mb
  • it isn't do with capability - it is throttling (all o2 LLU is adsl2+ anyway IIRC)

ask to go back on the old package,

If you have been moved to the new packages there is no way back to the old package.
