Microsoft office - second hand

Hi there,

Can anybody recommend a reputable company that sells second hand or cheap microsoft office (no particular version)? I don't particularly need the most up to date.

On another note, completely unrelated, I keep experiencing a problem whenever I watch programmes on line, such as Demand 5, ITV, it's very odd, as it only seems to happen with certain channels, as the BBC iPlayer works perfectly fine with no problems. Any ideas?

Why not use OpenOffice instead, which is compatible with MS Office, and free to download?
I can't help you with your 2nd question, as you haven't said what the 'problem' is...
No free lunch, and no free laptop ;)

    Thanks for the OpenOffice tip.

With regard to my second question, the problem I experience is that shortly after I begin watching a programme on certain channels such as Demand 5 or ITV, my laptop begins to make a soft but continuing sound, as if it were attempting to open up or download a programme, shortly before it completely switches off. I find this rather odd, as it only ever seems to occur on the same channels, the BBC iPlayer runs perfectly smoothly.

Or just use the free version of office that is available online to anyone with a hotmail account.

No it's not-you do not need a Hotmail account to download OpenOffice-it has no connection with Microsoft.
There are no 'free' versions of MS Office, other than trial versions.
No free lunch, and no free laptop ;)
  • Apart from the free MS Office Starter version that comes preloaded on some PCs.
  • If you do want MS office then try a computer fair or a car boot sale. M$ tend to go after retailers punting 2nd hand copies of microsoft office as it is against the T&C's but its not against the law so these are your best bet. Just make sure it is a real copy and not a pirated copy.
There's no sense crying over every mistake.
You just keep on trying till you run out of cake.

Nope, it's office live, it works just like office except all of your documents are stored in your online account (I think you have about 8gb worth of space). You can of course download any document you like to your own machine whenever you like. I use it all the time on my netbook rather than having to faff around with my open office (and was a real life-saver when I needed to finish a presentation).
