Cancelled orange contract, or not?

Hi,
I thought I would ask the question on here before I try to contact Orange, just to see if anyone can advise me on the best way to go about this.

I was made redundant two years ago, and I got in to some financial difficulties with orange. I paid off my debts with them in November 2010 and when doing s,o I asked the customer service person after clearing my debt is my contract cancelled? the answer was yes and your sim is now useless, throw it away. (which I did, and never used it)

So all well and good, everything in order etc.......

Well no, I have received a monthly bill from them for that account, which was supposidely cancelled according to them.
Can anyone suggest what I should do, or how to go about this.

I was out of contract at the time all this started.

Contracts roll on till you formally cancel them. It doesn't sound like you did. Get back in touch, explain what happened, ask if there are notes on file, assure them that you were told it was cancelled and keep escalating it till you get a result.

Make sure it is cancelled on your next call and I would suggest you also email them.
