Dog - paws biting

For few days now Zara has been biting her paws, "feet" if you know what I mean?

She keeps on going between her toes/pads and keep on biting.

I had a look, nothing there - no redness, no swelling, no cats, no foreign objects...

Any idea what may be causing her biting all the time?
I do not know how to explain really, not biting but digging with her teeth between her pads.. does it makes sense?

    Oh, found this:

Heard about this connection before - my old vet told me about it when Zara was very ermmm smelly.

But when her glands need emptying, I normally know by the smell (yukkkkkk), this time she ONLY chews her paws...

Guess we will be off to a vet tne, just in case.. hope it will be the cute male vet I seen last time with the cats....

Yeah.. loosing it in my old age ;)

It doesn't have to be anal glands causing the pain. Paw bothering in this way is a not uncommon stereotypical behaviour in dogs....it can be pain, it can be boredom or stress.

Good luck at the vets. :)

Thanks - going to turn her upside down now in good light to see if I can spot anything....
Vet will be next week, taking the whole "family" there:

    1) Zara - lets look at those paws
    2) Fred and George - second injection
    3) Fiona and Phoebe - neutering

    week after:

    1) George and Fred - neutering

Perhaps I should move in there... for a bit....

Wondering how am I going to get a dog and 4 cats to the vet... Cabs will NOT take my dog. Will walk with her and send my daughter with 2 cat baskets in a cab I guess..... Hmmmm

Toby used to do this and it was "wet ezcma" (sorry spelling) also used to flair up if he got wet sweaty feet.
Cabot (0%) left to pay £2455 let the overpayments commence! :D

Do you have a pet taxi near you? They're usually run by dog walkers etc who have the van already!
What matters most is how well you walk through the fire

I will just walk with her - it is a nice walk actually...

Just waiting for some cash to come my way so can get all furbabes seen at once :)

Looked at her paws today, can not see anything at all so probably those anal glands, will check next week anyway.

This is not constant, if it was would have taken her straight away.

My dog does this when his glads need emptying too! I think my vet thought I was mad when I told her but no one knows your dog like you do and they don't necessarily have to have the tell tale signs of wiping their backside on the floor. Definitely worth getting them emptied to rule it out :)
  • Our Akita has a Keratin deficiency which makes me constantly eat his feet. I doubt it would be that as apparently it's only common with Akitas, but worth a vet trip just to check?

Oakley likes to eat other people's feet. Particularly those well brought up friends of my daughters who take their trainers off when they come in....

There is something very wrong with that statement! :rotfl:
I wish I would take my own advice!
