Just going back to the OP thread, in Parliament at PMQ, Ed Milliband thought he could score a cheap point over Cameron's judgment by comparing Cameron's appointment of Coulson versus his appointment of Ed Balls. Cameron immediately came back with the obvious rejoinder that if Balls was such a great appointment as shadow Chancellor of the Exchequer, why hadn't Milliband appointed him in the first place.

I don't think Ed Milliband is doing Labour any favours whatsoever. I just see Labour trying to make cheap shots across the Coalition. Grow up, boys, we need a strong parliament not carping over-privileged Oxford/Cambridge boys.

Can none of the labour supporters actually come up with an answer as to where the money will come from to keep on increasing spending over income?

Yes, 3.5bn from a bank levy.

The rest, I assume, is borrowing.

Not sure who would lend all this money, I've been wanting to ask the question for a while, but no one has actually answered where the money will come from yet, so I haven't had the opportunity!

I will make a start, remove child benefit from families earning over £50k, and while we are at it remove fuel allowance from pensioners that are are in receipt of income over £20k.

    Is that labour policy?

What does it have to do with Labour? the Tories are quite happily continuing the increased spending over income, tell you what, ask Cameron as he actually has to do it

I don't care, it would be my policy.

At the risk of repeating, cuts or no cuts we will still be borrowing more money, no suppose about it.

    That's ironic :p

Can I ask a question? Where would the money come from to provide labour with the ability to cut less?

No, thats not it at all, there "flexible" crap is just a wishy washy statement to cover the fact they don't have any real policies or alternatives.

In the last Labour budget they had £40bn of planned cuts, but hadn't even allocated them anywhere, what kind of budget is that?

And what are you talking about pulling funding from universities? Theyre doing nothing of the sort.

And they haven't increased taxes by huge amounts, in fact they have purposely not done so.

And you can't "pay down" a deficit, a deficit is in the budget, it has to result from either increased revenue or cuts. The fact that labour think they can carry on spending and tax revenue will magically increase by 20% is ridiculous.
Blooming heck, you really don't know anything, do you. Do you just imagine these things up, hoping that non one will notice?
The greater danger, for most of us, lies not in setting our aim too high and falling short; but in setting our aim too low and achieving our mark
