Does anyone know how this company (Equity Red Star_ fare with customer service?
Also - I'll be moving house in April, to a LOWER risk postcode (have checked). At that point would they take me off the competitive rate and jack up the price, or give me a fair reduction?0 -

If I'm guessing, the first option sounds likely.0 -
Tried First Direct for car insurance as mentioned in your email.
I have Cruise Control fitted by a qualified car accessory fitting firm and an alarm by a car alarm fitter. This was back in 1996 !!.
They want certificates before they are prepared to insure me.
All other insurers have NO problem with these items.
Fortunately it was a free phone number and all I have wasted is about 15 minutes of my life.:mad:0 -
It is not until you need to make a claim/change car that you get to find out how good they actually are.
I have kept my house insurance with Esure, purely due to the fact that their service when I made a claim was exceptional, and this is despite the premium being a little more than other insurers.

My insurance renewal was expensive as im still calssed as a young driver. Went through all the avenues and still couldnt find it cheaper. Went through first direct and they gave me 10% off no probs. I then went back to my previous insurer who could still not beat that quote so I moved. So far so good.
Btw. My partner was with swift cover and also had a similar problem. He printed off his renewal quote and sent it off to First Direct and they seemed happy enough0 -
I tried loads insurance quotes, both comparison sites and independant, but nothing better than my initial first renewal quote. I thought great, they Guarantee to be cheaper by 10%....
So i applied..... The outcome???
"Sorry, we can not provide a quote on the details you have provided".......
What does Guarantee mean again???0 -
I had no problems obtaining the 10% discount and have previously been insured and claimed through them which was hassle free, so would happily recommend. Previous insurer would not beat first direct's quote.0

They were unable to quote with no explanation. I`m 71 with a clean licence and never claimed on my insurance in 49 years.0

Thanks for all the feedback folks - do keep it coming. I think its in the right place n the guide its a good "if you havent beaten renewal by 10% try this and it may do it - rather than will"Martin Lewis, Money Saving Expert.
