Should I Pay up

Hi there

I received a parking charge from Excel earlier this month but appealed against it. They replied basically saying we appreciate your circumstances, but pay up. Since then, I have read a few posts on here that seem to suggest that I don't need to pay. However, as I have already appealed, should I now pay up. Any advice would be much appreciated. Thanks

No, just ignore everything they throw at you from now on, it may go on a little longer than it would have done since you replied to them
but just file everything away behind the clock

Errrrmmmm...'Excel' and 'should i pay up' in the same paragraph? Say no more. Answer = NO!

Did you see there is a whole forum board of current threads on this generic scam, with tons of info? Not just a thread or two - loads of people having already asked your exact question every week - and lots on Excel if you search the forum!

The stickies (top threads by Crabman) tell you everything you need to know, with pics of all the scary threatening letters that you will receive, as well as info about the legality of these bogus tickets and a link to a Watchdog programme last year with clear advice from a lawyer.

IGNORE Excel and their pet debt collector, be ready to play snap when matching each letter against our sticky thread of letters. Read up on this on the board link above.

Only ever take seriously a ticket from the Police/Council/Transport for London.

Tell your friends & family, in case they are ever about to pay such a ticket as well.

There is no 'appeal procedure'. Ignore them.

Replying to these demands for money is widely seen as a tactical error, but not one you cannot correct.

Ignore all future letters from them or 'debt' collectors.

They are a private company and do not have the right to punish you by way of a fine, which is all this is.

There is no debt, a company cannot establish a debt simply by writing to you and demanding money.

I try not to get these 'tickets', but have successfully ignored two.

Just be aware some of the letters can be quite nasty and threatening.

The only circumstances in which you need to reply is if you receive a genuine summons from a county court.
