Maybe Vauxhall dont stretch to pad warning wires?

    Every penny counts

Yes they do have warning sensors, but they must be replaced if the pads are allowed to wear too far..... They're a "one shot" switch.

What can happen is someone like crap fit will replace the pads, see the warning light is still stuck on and then simply disconnect the sensors.

No that'll be rust on the discs from the water.
Unless you live under the sea, rust would not form that quickly on discs after just washing the car! It would take at least a few days without use for rust to form.

Im sorry, but every car i've ever owned or washed has rusted over on the discs less than a hour after a wash...... Im guessing you must either use car-washes a lot and/or always drive your car straight after washing it?

Do you live near the sea?! I work at a garage so use the pressure washer with some TFR in, and have never had any issues. Maybe the TFR is rust inhibitive?!

^^ Maybe so, it's also going to be dependent on the area too.... Hard water will contain more minerals which will cause rusting. The only way to stop it would be an additive of some sort or to use pure de-mineralised water....

Which interestingly is potentially harmful to drink, because is absorbs minerals from the body. But left for long enough it absorbs carbon dioxide from the air becoming a very mild carbonic acid...

Zafira has wear indicators that get noisey before the pads wear out.
They're sprung metal contact that scrub the disk, rather than a light. So you can hear them as a similar noise to the pads being shot.

not all vx have wear indication, the higher spec veccies have em the lower models do not.
some vx have squeel plates on one pad per side that give a screech when pads are nearing the limit.
some vx have nothing at all.
