noise when braking

Hi
My Vauxhall Vectra has begun making a noise when braking. It seems to be there when braking gently to a stop, doesnt seem to be impacting on braking times.
Its coming from the front. I had new tires fitted today so had a look and the pads and discs, whilst worn, seem ok.
The noise itself does sound like the noise you get when the pads are going.
Any ideas?

Can you describe the noise?0

It's been fitted with substandard brake pads, Vectra's are EXTREMELY funny about brake pads.
Aftermarket pads actually don't fit correctly and can move when you brake, when they move they scrub for a while until they return back to position and then the problem goes away for a few days...... The result is a droning noise which sounds as though they're worn down.“I may not agree with you, but I will defend to the death your right to make an a** of yourself.”

Thanks both.
Ive not had new brakes fitted since ive had the car so i dont know if they where genuine parts or otherwise.
Id say the noise was a pronounced SHHHHHHHHHHH kind of noise. I dont hear it at all when driving fast, braking harder. Im not sure if this is due to the noise of the car/engine or if there is no noise. (just discovered its hard to write down a noise!!)0 -
Could be brake dust, or a stone in the disc?:A Luke 6:38 :AThe above post is either from personal experience or is my opinion based on the person God has made me and the way I understand things. Please don't be offended if that opinion differs from yours, but feel free to click the 'Thanks' button if it's at all helpful!0

...or even the pads metal to metal on the disc if they've never been done?!:A Luke 6:38 :AThe above post is either from personal experience or is my opinion based on the person God has made me and the way I understand things. i would say the pads are really low but still have some lining left so not giving a major metal on metal noise but it is the rust lip on disk just starting to come in to contact with the pad backing.
suggest you get them looked at ASAP.0 -
Maybe Vauxhall dont stretch to pad warning wires?

Was the noise there, prior to having the new tyres fitted?0 -

No that'll be rust on the discs from the water.“I may not agree with you, but I will defend to the death your right to make an a** of yourself.”
