Thomas/Brio train track pieces.

I know at least a few members have said that their children have had years of fun out of the Thomas train sets. My son was given a LOAD of track and about 20 engines by a friend whose children had grown out of it. :j It is undoubtedly the best toy he has ever had and I want to develop it a little for him for his birthday or Christmas.
I am struggling to find track adaptor pieces like small pieces that are 2 female or 2 male sides rather than male/female. Or ones that can join 2 circular pieces of track together etc etc.
What do your children find useful on their tracks?
Where did you get them?
Thanks! (I'm having to do all my Christmas shopping on line this year.)

We always used this guy, he used to travel around to craft fairs in the Cheshire area, which is how we first came across him. his pieces are good quality and fitted with any other track - Tesco etc that my son had. He's still got 100's of bits, but is not playing with it as much now - it's not cool at 8!!
As to the best bits anything from the fourth item down, made it much easier for us (in the first instance) and him to make a more exciting railway, as they allow for seperate tracks to go off in different directions - and give more scope for realistic train tracks.
Hope this is some help0 -
I don't believe it! honestly, I googled everything I could think of. That is PERFECT. And loads cheaper than Ebay for the stuff I'm looking for too.
Thank you so much!May all your dots fall silently to the ground.0 -

My two have loads of Brio (or equivilant!). The most useful piece was called a star crossing (I think). It's like a cross roads for 4 tracks, but curved so you can go down any track leading off it. They also like other pieces where multiple tracks could join.
Bridges and tunnels were popular too.
Don't forget that you can join other things into the railway. Mine have a whole pretend world laid out in the loft with Brio railway, matchbox style cars, a farm set, a construction set and Lego for buildings, vehicles and people! Here I go again on my own....0 -
You can get tunnels? He'd love that!
DH and I had a good look at that site last night. We've put it in our favourites. It's going to see us through a fair few Chirstmases I think! I particularly like the castle!May all your dots fall silently to the ground.0 -

Yes - there are some on this page:

Mine even got one that came with a brick wall, so you could brick Henry in just like the bookI don't know where that was bought from as it was a gift from my brother, along with Henry.
They also have a spooky tunnel that makes noises when the train goes through. That was expensive as it's proper Brio, but I loved it and couldn't resist
Edit: here's a link for the noisy tunnel

Wish we had found this site when DS was into Brio. Its fab.
ELC used to do compatable stuff too, but that was some years ago.
Still have fond memories of the lounge carpet covered with a mass of Brio and our old labrador stuck in the middle of the circuit fast asleep.
Wish they did a playstation equivalent - much more fun!0 -
