I was looking at foundations today in Boots. They had a one aimed at shiny skin. In their 17 range.

Also in the 17 range tomorrow they are putting out a new foundation called picture perfect i think. Buy it and you get a primer free. I think i might give that one a go.

I use Bare Essentuals. Its a loose mineral powder, so great for oily skin and its all natural, made from crushed minerals, so its light and wont bring you out in spots if you fall asleep before washing off! Its done in 3 parts, the foundation, the bronzer/blusher/colour layer and then the mineral veil top layer, which you can reapply all day if you start to look a little shiny and it'll soak up any oil, leaving you looking fresh.

The other think to note is if you have a good moisturiser and base primer it will help your oily skin, if you dont moisturise straight after washing/showering then your face is dried out and will over-produce oil to try and compensate. A good moistursing regime will usually improve it over a few weeks.

I think I'm going to start going to make up counters to see if they'll put on some foundation for me to try.
I want something that'll last all day & stay looking perfect. So I'll explain that when they try to get me to buy on the day!

We'll see how I get on!

If you can get to a clinique counter they are very good, they assess your skin and offer advice on how to stay looking perfect as they are more about the treatment products than the makeup.

presciptives always used to be the best to get a colour match as they do a custom blend. not sure how many department stores have their counters though. the best match will depend on your skin colour. there was a great thread on the beauty board where someone went through and commented on all the types they'd tried - will try and find it as it was pretty good!

here's the thread - it's aimed at people with pale skin (hence i remember it!), but lots of brands are discussed.

  • a lot of make up artists use chanel and mac foundations, also clinique ones are good. But then these come at a price!

chanel vitalumiere is fantastic, but not the best for oily combination skin.

    good luck!!
