omg gandy even though i dont do shoes those purple ones are just.....wow

i know i drooled over them for months talking myself out of buying them more than once cause i thought they'd be just too high and i wouldn't feel comfortable in them. i decided just to buy them and try them on (couldn't get them in the shops anywhere) considering they're slightly higher than i'd normally go for they are soooooo comfy!

i'm utterly giddy about finally getting to wear them in may :j:j

There is a certain feeling about having non-conventional wedding shoes!

rainbow drops... personally go for shoes you'd be happy with on the day. i luckily got two pair for what i'd initally budgeted for one and they're both so great i will wear them again.

if you find a pair of trendy shoes you love, will wear again and match in with your colours go for it at least you know that you won't just be wearing a pair of shoes once.

after the wedding i'll probably get my traditional shoes dyed to match an outfit i have so i can get more wear out of them.

I'm having these ... I love them but haven't even shown my parents as I know they'll freak out! I mentioned having coloured shoes early on and they didn't react too well. But I love them, and bridesmaid and OH both said nice things about them, and they won't really be seen that much under the dress anyway.

  • I've gone for a kitten heel court shoe in ivory from Next.

Would have loved to have a funky-er style but I have a very vintage looking dress with a lot of detail so it just wouldn't have looked right...

I have these shoes in brown and they are the comfiest things I've ever had in my life! i could wear them all day and night. I am a huge clutz in heels, so wedges are a good alternative, and there is a big, slippy, steep hill down to the chapel (as Twirlypinky will agree) and I don't want to slip!

But, I am worried that these will be TOO casual and not white enough! I haven't ordered them yet, as am undecided. :(
If you have nothing constructive to say just move along.
  • My wedding shoes were my something old!!!!

I didn't see the point in spending big money on a pair of shoes that would hardly be seen under my dress. I also hated just about every pair of wedding shoes I saw, and none of them were the right colour for my dress as it was champagne rather than ivory. Then there was the issue of heel height, I'm tall and although my DH is too I didn't want to look taller than my Dad when he gave me away, but wedding shoes seemed to be either frumpily flat/low heeled or sky scrapers that would have sunk into the grass, made my dress too short and been horribly uncomfy.

So I was chatting to my mum, who agreed with my thoughts and she started talking about her wedding shoes. I said that they were lovely, but I knew they would be too small for me, they were also flatter and whiter than I wanted (although she would have let me dye them).

That was when she realised she still had her mum's wedding shoes, she got them out for me, gorgeous gold 1930s satin, and whilst she was looking for them she found a pair of shoes her mum had worn with when she was groom's mum. I tried both pairs on with the dress and the second pair were perfect, a brilliant colour match, perfect heel height, comfy and very cute! They had only been worn once or maybe twice and were in perfect condition despite being older than me! I wore them all day and didn't take them off until about 11pm.

It was lovely to have a completely unique pair of shoes for my wedding, nothing like what was in the shops or my friends were having. It was even better that they had significance to my family. And of course it was also very MSE!

So think about having old or borrowed wedding shoes, you might find something unique that you love for little or no money! :D

These are mine, not very fancy but I like them. I could only have a low heel because a) my H2B is only about 4" taller than me and I wanted to still look shorter than him in the pictures :o and b) I'm such a wimp when it comes to my feet and I'd just be miserable if the shoes made them hurt!

They were only about £18 too so I spent extra on my tiara :D

I couldn't have the traditional pointy type wedding shoes as I felt like I had clown feet and I'm such a clutz that I knew I would fall over :p

    Lovely story Katie-Kat-Kins! :)

Joho, what's your dress like? They are very casual, I'm not convinced they'd look right...
Overcome the notion that you must be ordinary. It robs you of the chance to be extraordinary!
