I'd be worried if I was you as you've bought before with no such worries.
Another trick to try - toss a coin in teh air, heads you buy tails you don't. You'll probably find yourself hoping for one or teh other, or being relieved / disappointed by result. (Go with the feeling NOT how the coin ends up!!!!!!;) )A positive attitude may not solve all your problems, but it will annoy enough people to make it worth the effortMortgage Balance = £0

Anthing like that happening for you?
Lynzpower this is exactly how I feel right now. I am completely non interested at the moment and the excitment I felt about the house initally has seriously gone and I feel nothing at the moment.House purchase completed 6th December whole process took 4 months.
Hang in there everyone it is worth it0 -

Our old property is on the market, we've given notice on the place we're renting. Everything is good to go. I should be made up, right?
But I'm not. I have had mild misgivings about this move from the off and, the closer it comes to being a reality, the more queasy I seem to feel about it.
I have bought property twice before and not felt like this about it. I feel that whatever amount of money I might have wasted on solicitors' fees/searches/surveys etc up to this point, would be a bargain compared to proceeding with a move I'm not 100% happy with.
Are these sorts of heebeegeebees normal? Does anyone else get them? Has anyone else pulled out of a house purchase at the 11th hour? What were the consequences?
Thanks in advance for any help/insight/encouragement/ticking off/pull yourself together man-type advice offered.
Trust your instincts, sometimes you just get a gut feeling about something. It's not a good time to buy as a FTB or as someone who already has a property. It's not nice when people pull out of a chain, but we all make mistakes, and a large proportion of chains full through all the time, most people expect these things to happen occasionally. Don't continue just because you are worried about upsetting people.0 -

I'm a great one for the decision lists idea - and I always draw a vertical line in the middel of the paper first, and head the two columns 'For' and 'Against' (whatever it is). Then I list all the fors and againsts...
What I always find is that at the end one list is much longer than the other - sometimes from unconciously adding lots of little items to make it longer! Then I look at the length of the two lists, and whichever is the longest, that is the decision that my gut wants me to make.....
This has always worked for me. I have to say as well, don't ignore your gut instinct - I have done in the past, and always regretted it....
Good luck in whatever decision you make.0 -
This might not be possible so late in the day but have you thought about going to view the house again? I knew I was about to exchange contracts and went over to measure up the windows for curtains etc. I had been feeling a bit nervous about the purchase but as soon as I was in the house again I got the same 'homely' feel that I had previously and knew it was the right move for me.0

I feel a bit like this about our move too - it's taken so long and there ahve been so many problems that I'm seriously wondering if the universe is trying to tell me something. I\ve lost all excitement about it and the whole subject just makes me twitch whenever it comes up. I am hoping that once we acctually move and the awfulness of the process fades, the excitement and enthusiasm for the new house will return.0

After all the ups and downs of the months leading up to exchange/completion, it can seem like an anti-climax. With the nightmares we went through with our place I found it impossible to get excited and look forward to moving because I was afraid it would all fall apart. And when I finally got through the door I felt completely detached from it. Fortunately my OH more than made up for it.
Try thinking about what you would do if you don't buy it. Imagine that scenario and see how it makes you feel. That's what made my mind up.0 -
I'm also experiencing that lack of enthusiasm. For ages I wanted everything to speed up (when it was all going really slowly) and then now that the end is in sight I find myself trying to slow it down. I think for me it is fear of change, fear of commitment to my first mortgage. On the other hand when I think about being in my current flat at christmas it makes me feel dreadful so I guess i'm making a good move after all. If I hate it at least i can sell it (thats the real test, do you hate it enough to go through this all over again!!!)0

I know exactly what you mean. To cut a long story short, we're buying my mother's house, with completion HOPEFULLY January the 5th. We're getting quite a good discount and have been lucky enough to get a private sale on our own house, it's a far better house than we have at the moment good garden etc, so all the signs are shouting go for it! however, the house is on the other side of town and I'll have to change my DD's school and sort of leave my 'life' behind me as I don't drive, (which i know could be easily rectified, but that's another story!) yet part of me knows we'll never get such a good deal again and we could never afford to move otherwise. Our own house has no garden to speak of and no room at all. On top of this, we'll have to up our mortgage by, ooooh, LOADS to pay of other long term debts etc and that is giving me sleepless nights too. Sorry for ranting away, once I started writing it all down, it wouldn't stop!Total debt £20,000 Northern Rock loan:eek:
