got a mac? get an anti virus!

just come accross this and thought i would share

basically for those who cant be bothered to read it symantec has analysed the JnanabotV virus and has found that the break down of infected systems is as follows

OS X 16%
XP 75%
vista or above 9%
Drop a brand challenge
on a £100 shop you might on average get 70 items save
10p per product = £7 a week ~ £28 a month
20p per product = £14 a week ~ £56 a month
30p per product = £21 a week ~ £84 a month (or in other words one weeks shoping at the new price)

    To be fair its hard to tell the difference between a actual joke and general mac fanboy idiocy.

    Err, not quite.

    OLD NO LONGER SUPPORTED versions of OS X is 16% so that doesn't come as much of a surprise. "Other OS X" is 3% but whilst that can include Snow Leopard, it is interesting to note that they don't specifically list 10.6.x. Maybe its because they don't sell an AV suite for it?

    Of course the real test would be to get a group of computer illiterates, give half unprotected Macs, half unprotected Windows machines, then see how many were still clean (or even functional) an hour later.
