Warning - Don't Go With Orange
I got a phone on the Orange network and the reception in my house is appalling. I use it for work at home and it barely picks up 1 bar. Speaking to clients is embarrassing because sometimes the reception simply cuts out. Retrieving messages is Kafka-esque taking sometimes 15 times before it'll play the message all the way through without the signal failing.
Sadly I went away on holiday the day I got the damn thing and by the time I got home my trial period had run out. I am now stuck with it for the next 18 months.
Oh ... where do I live? The wilds of Scotland. Nope. The Welsh valleys. No way. I live in central London. I can walk from my front door to the base of the BT tower in approximately 8 minutes.
Thanks a bunch Orange.

It's hardly Orange's fault if you go on holiday now is it !
The T&C are quite clear, you've 14 days to change your mind, if your not able to use that 14 days to test the phone where you're going to be using it mostly, maybe it might have been a good idea to start the cotract when you got back...0 -
you can invite me round yr place for coffee coz I'm on vodafone - so i'm ok.....:beer:0

Orange have never been known for best reception - Vodafone have consistently best coverage & if you rely on your phone for business you may be best to just transfer to them then bite the bullet & pay the penalty for cancelling Orange - I had the same problem with t-mobile.0

It works both ways. I've been in places where you can't get a signal on o2, but get a great signal on orange.Next year we'll be millionaires!0

You could divert it to your landline whilst at home.0

Sadly as with all networks it's hit and miss with the signals.
I collected pay and go sim cards before I chose my last contract to make sure I could get a signal.
I ended up with orange because it was the only consistent signal near me. None of the others worked in any buildings and only marginally better outside.
Sadly as you have missed your 14 days it's either - pay off your contract and put it down to experience or divert it to your landline when you are at home.

i'm on orange and had no problem with signal in london anywhere when i was there a few weeks ago. what handset have you got? it could be a handset fault.
It is better to be thought of as an idiot than to open your mouth and remove all doubt

I totally agree. Change your handset and see whether it makes a difference before blaming Orange. I once had the same problem and switched from a Nokia to a Sagem ( Yes, I know of all mobile Brands a Sagem… ….) It did the trick. It constantly picked up a signal where the Nokia failed. I ma not saying that the Sagem’s are better than Nokia’s but in my case it was definitely much better. It wasn’t as fancy as the Nokia and took some getting used to, but it did the job, so cant complain and cost me only a tenner (from eBay). My reality check bounced.0 -

Sorry
It’s a fact of mobile phone life, everyone wants a 100% signal a 100% of the time, BUT no one want a mast anywhere near them…0 -
You don't mention which phone you have. Do what Indy said, try changing your mobile. With most Nokia phones, they don't usually have an external aerial, which can affect the reception you get. Have you got an external aerial on your phone? If you have and you are getting a low reception on your phone, then it might just be the reception in your area, if after you have tried other different mobiles.0
