Wait until January and buy them in the sales with at least 50% off. I do.When it comes to thought, some people stop at nothing.........0

If you've got kids, the Boots 3 for 2 on early learning centre stuff is well worthwhile.....we got three £40 presents for £80 - plus quidco and an extra points offer, so well worth it.0

Point taken, however I was just doing some mathematical gymnastics which I'm sure the retailers do before 'the big spend'!!
As previously posted, the 'free' gift is factored into the original sale price and all of the 3for2 offers are at a higher price than when not on offer.
If we knew the wholesale price........... now that would be interesting!!
Oh well, enough day dreaming for today, back to work.0 -
With regards to how much mark-up shops put on things, I have been selling a well known children's branded character range of items for a long time. They retail in the shops for £8 - £20. I buy them from a middleman for as low as £2.50 (in the U.S) so what price he is getting them from the manufacturer for to make a profit from me I have no idea!
Boots came up trumps for me the other day. Placed an online order for 9 items with 3 free, one of those was out of stock so they deducted the price of that and another for free so got 8 items for the price of 5 with all of the other discounts from quidco and 10%, I got an absolute bargain (well in my eyes!)

When you take away all the packaging on these gifts sets its then when you realise how silly people are for buying them. A can of deodorant and a shower gel for £10? - barmy!0

I was in Boots last week and seen the game my son wanted was on 3 for 2 that I had already bought, but then I noticed it was £5 more than I paid for it. Some are bargains but some things I think are overpriced to make up the losses for being on 3 for 2.One day I might be more organised...........
GC: £200
Slinkies target 2018 - another 70lb off (half way to what the NHS says) so far 25lb0 -

Just make sure you check the ELC prices first.
In ELC wobble board - £15
In Boots £20 ( at 3 for 2 £13.33)
Only better value if combining 3 x £20.7 Angel Bears for LovingHands Autumn Challenge. 10 KYSTGYSES. 3 and 3/4 (ran out of wool) small blanket/large square, 2 premie blankets, 2 Angel Claire Bodywarmers0 -
I only bought 3 for 2 last year when i was purchasing toys on behalf of OHs employer. I compared the individual prices of the items on other websites first and knew that i was getting a good deal, plus some discount codes used. I also bought some gift sets last year which were reduced and on 3 for 2 then used Quidco and another code. They are only ever a good deal if you are prepared to shop around for hours on end, use codes and cashback sites. I keep telling relatives about the wonders of these but they never seem to take any heed, i can just imagine the kind of money that they throw away.A banker is someone who lends you an umbrella when the sun is shining, and who asks for it back when it start to rain.0

Pefume/aftershave minitures are a classic example of overpricing i think theyy are £18 but if you go to lloyds pharmacy you can buy a similar designer type for only £10 each.
OOOOOOOOO gossip for you..... anyone got brochure 17 from AVON? the 3 for 2 offer on gifts has been cancelled as they have run out of quite a few things already. If you buy three things they have changed the prices so its a 1/3 off instead. Ask your rep though. I know the jewllery hanger, cars exclusive puzzle and dora the explorerer set are definately sold out. The placemats and a small light up christmas tree is also out of stock/sold out.
Also if you buy form avon online its 2 campaigns behind most representatives books unless your rep is a trendsetter then its 4 campaigns behind! So you are more likely to get christmas stock from the reps than wait for it to appear on the site.0 -
The 3 for 2 is the packaging price, I object to paying vast amount more for the pretty xmas packaging!! Boots has 3 for 2 on all men's toiletries etc buy then that way (check 1st superdrug is not cheaper) or savers, or even sainsburys was cheaper the other day on the lynx, pretty wrap them yourself.
Where does the packaging go anyway on xmas day? In the bin, you are blatantly paying for the convenience of going in the store and buying it already packaged up xxx0
