Hi
I have been on the 'phone today to Orange mobile. Appologies for the long post
Firstly a little rant about how stupid their automated systems are: It asks me to push 1 for a mobile user, so I did, it then asks me to input my ORANGE mobile number to make it easier for them to find my details so I did and their systems then say they didnt recognise the number and asked me to try again (no option to go through to a person) so I did and again so I did and again so I did!!!
Finally it goes through the list of options to which department I wanted so I sellected billing enquiries, again it asks me to input my Orange mobile number (yes youve guessed it) so I did and their systems then say they didnt recognise the number and asked me to try again (no option to go through to a person) so I did and again so I did and again so I did!!!
At this point the system says "sorry for the confusion, please hold and I will transfer you to one of our operators". Five minutes later I get to speak to a person and when they ask me for my mobile number they get very confused as their computers dont recognise it. I then get asked am I sure I am with Orange?
I answered yes I was with orange but my number has now been transferred over to a different network (Tesco). So he asked me to confirm my address instead and then said he had my account details infront of him!
ANYWAY
My mobile was disconected on 20th October. My number was ported to Tesco mobile the same day. My bill from Orange is from 17th October - 16th November for £89.15p! No previous bill has been above £45.
I previously paid Orange by Direct Debit £45.43 on 9th October.
My bill shows I have paid £17.02 for unblocking fee which is correct.
My service bill charges are paid in advance I have been told by them. Meaning that the £45.34 paid on 9th October should cover the remainder of October to the termination date of 20th October??
So from what I figure I have been overcharged £25. Calls, £6.80 texts and £5 care insurance totalling £37.33 taking this from the bill of £89.15 would leave me with £51.82 (showing the difference of £17.82 for the unblocking fee).
I questioned Orange twice about this today (having to go through the same rigmarole with their stupid automated service twice) and on the first occasion I had a man who seemed to be praising me for the amount of texts I clocked up each day "at 10p a pop" he kept saying so I said well many of them are included in my spend and I have an extra bundle as well. He said that half the ones were not included in my spend as I had gone over my limit. With my statement infront of me I could see clealy it showed no charge!
The second time I rang I spoke to a woman who told me I have to pay the bill in full then any refund would be reimbursed when my final bill was issued. I said that was silly and told her I simply coul not afford to pay the bill and wait for a refund! I said I ws happy to pay Orange what I owed them (if anything) but couldnt afford to pay more in the hope I would get it back eventually!
I was then told not to bother paying the bill at all and to ignore the reminder! I repeated what I was told and asked her to confirm to me she had told me not to pay and ignore the reminder and any further reminders and she said yes thats correct! :j
I asked for her name and position which she gave to me and spelt it out as it was an unusual name.
Do I go by her advice or phone again or pay up and wait for a refund??

AGAIN APPOLOGIES FOR THE LONG POST
thanks for listening!

I'd be careful, paying a bill late can result in a negative strike on your credit rating.Next year we'll be millionaires!0
