I'm not clear whether or not you still have the product key for the original Vista installation. I think that, surprisingly, you use the same one for a Dell upgrade from Vista to Windows 7. Worth a try, anyway?

Thanks to you all for your inputs, just quick upate,
Called MS they was very nice but i needed a No off the disc but couldnt see it I then called Dell and spoke to a really nice guy and cut a long story short he is going to send me a new copy of windows 7 free of charge, so well done to Dell and you guys for you help x :beer:
