The disc is irrelevent, the key is what costs the money, so expect it to cost the same!0

If you're wanting to install it on a different computer then you'll have to get another copy. The disc is pretty irrelevant. Order a new copy from any reputable retailer.
If you've lost your existing key and are wanting to reinstall, that's a different matter altogether.0 -
thats what I want to do, when i brought the laptop I qualified for a free upgrade when window 7 was released but I had to have a new hard drive put in at christmas and dell put Vista back on, so now I want to reinstall window 7Treat other's how you like to be treated.

Did dell upgrade it to windows 7 if so they should provide a new license for the upgrade or if it was through microsoft them im sure the old license would still be valid as its only a hardrive change and not a major change.0 -
Dell did upgrade me so i have the disc they sent me but i have lost the package that it came in so i no longer have have the product key No , when i try and reinstall it keeps asking me me for product key, at the moment it is on my laptop but its classed as non genuine. Have you tried asking Dell? What is this life if, full of care, we have no time to stand and stare0

You can call MS and get a key from them free of charge. As long as your copy is legit then contacting them is easiest and cheapest.
Look for an option to activate Windows over the phone or something similar.0 -

yeah, the packaging is what costs the money, specifically the license sticker. everything else, including the disk is trivially replacable.... you'd better 'find' the 'lost' packaging or save up another £90.
You might have some joy trying your luck with microsoft customer services but i'd say that's 50-50 at best.0
