UK PArking control Ltd....Anyone had dealings with them?

Options
Hi

I received a parking charge notice from these people and was just about to pay £50 (reduced from £90 if paid within 14 days).

I'm really annoyed and thought I'd find out how legal these "fines" really are and came on here and read that people basically advise to ignore as they dont take you to court and bailiffs wont attend your property unless you have been taken to court. I'm not worried about the crappy letters they will send, more worried about waking up one morning to find my car clamped.

Has anyone else ingnored this particular company?

Many thanks

    100's if not 1000's have ignored these shysters and have not been taken to court or had their car clamped ( they cant do that on your property ), feel safe with the knowledge you have beaten them as you have found out its a sham, and you have kept your money. You might be aware that you will get several threatening letters etc all saying we will take you to court etc but ignore them all they are just bluff. The only set of papers that you will have to respond to ( in the unlikely event they ever do take you to court ) would be officially stamped court papers, in that event come back on here or goto pepipoo for more advice and a cast iron defence.

    UKPC cant not "fine" anyone. They can not clamp your car. They can be safely ignored. The only thing they believe they can do is attempt to charge you a "parking charge," however if you do what most do here just ignore them and they will send a few letters and then crawl back where they came from.

    PS: UKPC utter some complete tosh on their letters don't be intimidated.;)

    Did you see there is a whole forum board of current threads on this generic scam, with tons of info? Not just a thread or two, and lots on UKPC if you search the forum! Here are the current threads:

    http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/...play.php?f=163

    The stickies (top threads by Crabman) tell you everything you need to know, with pics of all the scary threatening letters that you will receive, as well as info about the legality of these bogus tickets and a link to a Watchdog programme last year with clear advice from a lawyer.

    IGNORE the company and their pet debt collector. Read up on this on the board link above. Only ever take seriously a ticket from the Police/Council/Transport for London.

    Tell your friends & family, in case they are ever about to pay such a scam ticket as well.
    PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

    Such nonsense as "We are members of the British Parking Association and as such we are required to invite you to declare you were the driver or to disclose the identity of the driver" It then goes on about "uninsured drivers". Something that has no relevance to private parking tickets.
    What part of "A whop bop-a-lu a whop bam boo" don't you understand?
  • I too got an unfair parking fine from them. I followed the advice given in moneysaving expert and I did not pay anything in the end.

    To cut a long story short, they are operating outside the law. They are issuing Civil Penalty tickets and making them look like legal fixed penalty tickets (unlawful). Do NOT tell them who the driver of the vehicle was (you are under no legal obligation to do so). The ticket is only payable by the driver NOT the registered owner. I ended up getting lots of Bailiffs notices through my door so I wrote a letter of complaint (including all the evidence) to

    This was fantastic as it soon stopped them from sending me threatening letters. Do no pay but make sure you follow all the guidance listed in this website.
    Good Luck!

    I've thanked the post but at the risk of sounding pedantic:

    PPC's operate within the law, albeit in a grey area;

    they issue 'parking' as opposed to 'penalty' notices;

    there is nothing illegal in the appearance of PPC notices;

    the adjudicators in angel sq. had no direct impact in yr case (their adjudication covers penalty notices issued by police/local authorites) so you wasted time appealing to them.

    yr advice re ignore and supply of info related to driver is correct.

    NEVER PAY A PPC.

    p.s you did not receive correspondence from bailiffs; debt collectors (AKA chimps) sent you silly letters.

    And what's with all those "Bailiffs notices through my door"? Are they actual bailiffs or just debt collectors?

    No doubt PPC Plastic Bailiffs!

    I do wish legislation was brought in to stop the use of this threat by anybody until after a Judgement was obtained. I know they thinly disguise the threat, but how many times do we see here posters who are not concerned about the PPC, but are kacking themselves over the threat of Bailiffs turning up.
  • Thanks everyone for the advice!! I'm will not be paying these scam artists a penny.
