Could they put you on the flight a day before you were due to fly?0

hi all, thanks for all the replies, appreciate everyones responses. going the day before i was due to fly is not an option as i cant get time off work. i dont really want to go down the LA route as this is going to cost more money which i dont have such a short time before my travels. also as far as im aware BA only fly to vegas from heathrow not gatwick so again not an option as my flight from manchester is to gatwick.
the flight with BA was booked by myself separately to the package with ebookers. i think what im just going to do which a few have said is travel down on the 9th to gatwick and get a hotel for the night and treat it as the start of my holiday, its not the end of the world travelling on my b/day but i just wanted to be in vegas when i turned 40 but i guess im still at least going. rang ebookers this evening as my hol to vegas has been reduced from 7 nights to 6 nights now and ive getting a refund of 1 nights stay in vegas so i guess i can use this for the hotel in gatwick so i guess its not too bad, only thing is the flight from manchester to gatwick arrives at 7.30am!!! oh well. thanks again for all the replies.0 -
Get a train into London on the 9th, have a lovely day and enjoy yourself. You may be a day late to Vegas but it's Vegas, so enjoy, don't sleep and cram more into the days you have there. I lost a day at Xmas due to bloomin snow in Atlanta, it just meant we slept less in Vegas and still had a fantastic time.0

You could ask The agent to get you on another flight to Vegas for that day from LGW, virgin are obliged to offer to get you there even if they put you with another carrier. It will mean a change of flight in the U.S. But no great shakes. This will take some doing because the agent won't want the hastle of talking to VS to sort it out, but it is your right and if you really want to be in Vegas on your birthday then it is worth sticking to your guns and persistingThe common law of business balance prohibits paying a little and getting a lot. If you deal with the lowest bidder, it is well to add something for the risk you run, and if you do that you will have enough to pay for something better.0

virgin have cancelled the flight on the 9th and put me on the flight on the 10th feb. im upset that im actually going to be travelling on a plane on my actual birthday but im more annoyed that the flight ive booked with ba is going to cost me to change it. i paid £152 and its going to cost me £120 to change it to the 10th feb. my only other option is to go on the flight on the 9th and book into a hotel. either option is going to cost me. where do i stand re this? should virgin offer me compensation? this was booked through ebookers as a package and they are saying its nothing to do with them and after spending an hour on the phone to virgin this morning they say they cannot do anything as its a package and i need to speak to ebookers. Im really upset as i feel my birthday has been ruined and virgin dont seem to care. i understand they have probably cancelled the flight on the 9th as it wasnt very full and makes sense from a business point of view to send a full aircraft out on the 10th but all my plans have been ruined now. Not sure if i can do anything or can i claim on my travel insurance for hotel accommodation or the fee to change the BA flight. anyone know? Many thanks.
Just wanted to say I had a similar problem with ebookers , we booked to go to new york 4th feb 2011 and then our flights were all changed about and it would've ended up either cutting our holiday short or paying extra to stay longer which i wasn't impressed with at all! I cancelled in full as I wouldn't accept the changes and re-booked with expedia. I wouldn't touch ebookers with a barge pole! awful customer service! Hope you get sorted!0 -
well, if you can't take virgin to las vegas, but you already have a ba flight booked. Why don't you try to get your money back from ebookers and book a flight with ba from gatwick to las vegas?
As Darren had pointed out above, BA don't fly from LGW to LAS, they only fly from LHR.0 -
Very misleading Del
BA haven't announced any strike dates in Febuary (and if they had Virgin wouldn't have undercapacity flights and need to cancel but would be picking the bookings off like vultures)
