Hello there, I hope someone can help me as I have no idea what to do. Let me explain my situation. I'm in need of extra money and decided to recycle my old Samsung Pixon for some quick and easy cash. I've recycled a phone before but used mazuma, but this time around, mobilephonexchange.co.uk were offering a much higher price then any other company. They quoted me £39.00 for my phone, which I thought was a good price as I've had it for nearly three years.
So, I send it off in the supplied free post envelope, and then around 5 days later, I get an email saying they've knocked down the price to a mere £13.00 due to heavy scratching.
I promptly emailed them and said I knew the phone was in good condition and could they please check over the phone again. I then went and quoted a part of their FAQ which states the only screen damage they look for is visible cracks or any patchy areas on the screen which make either hinders the ability to view the screen by either making text blurry or actually having parts of the screen blank.
They then emailed me again and informed me that they'd looked at my phone again and said they could now give me £26.00 for it, but if I wanted my phone back I would have to pay them £10.00.
I emailed them again, and again I said there is no mention on their site about deducting money from the quote for minor scratching to the screen, (which it was. I had the phone in a case for the majority of three years,) and could they please provide a reason as to why they still can't give me the initial £39.00.
Anyway, I sent that email to them on Thursday, and they've completely ignored me. I've just received an email from paypal to say they've paid me £13.00, meaning they have completely ignored any emails I've sent, and they have especially ignored my last email because they didn't like what I had wrote.
Can anyone suggest what to do now? They quoted me £39.00, then £13.00 and then raised it to £26.00 but have now only paid me £13.00 after I emailed them.
I really don't know what to do. I've left the amount in my paypal and don't plan to touch it until I figure out what my next step is.
Thank you in advance.
Also, I would like to just say I never agreed upon any of the above amount to be paid to me, which is what they asked me to do in an email.

All they give you is a quote ! Until they get the phone then they see what the condition is and then give you about a third ! Thats why I dont use them and use Mazuma may get slightly less but more in the long run and always realiable. I would take the £26.00 otherwise you will have to pay them £10 to get your phone back0 -
There's a thread full of similar warnings about this company. A little strange that most of the stories appear to come from people who haven't posted before, BUT....!0

Maybe that's because experienced members have seen the threads you mention and don't get caught. And, of course, a lot of people only come on here for the first time. because they suddenly find themselves in trouble and need help.
I am more worried about first posts that seem to praise companies in the face of adverse criticism elsewhere, given the general culture of Brits !0 -
At face value yes; but there's an obvious alternative theory. Usually when there are problems it's not almost entirely "newbies" who come on regularly to say almost the same thing.0
