Just take out temp insurance for 24 hours so it can be moved. No permission needed then. As per savemoney suggested.

Can you not cover the car short term? I bought short term cover for my other halfs car for a few weeks, it's not particularly cheap but you can get cover on any car regardless of owner.

Edit: Damn beat me to it. lol

The car doesn't belong to the OP so permission of the owner (or estate of the owner) is needed just to move it.

If permission to move is given then surely the “with owners permission” requirement of the OP’s DOC cover is met and they can use that rather than faffing about getting temp insurance? (££ & not very MSE)

As previously mentioned, the only thing they need to watch is that their DOC cover doesn’t have a requirement that the other car is independently insured. I’ve never had that on any of my policies but other people have reported their policy wording does require it.

Another option would be to have the person in charge of the estate have a garage pick up the car and store it.

    Thanks everyone,

The car has been moved onto my drive, I have looked closely at the terms and conditions set out in the two links above, they indeed do not set the requirement of ownership or permission to use the vehicle at all, simply that the vehicle is currently registered in the UK.
