    I earn £4706 less than I should going by the calculator but then they do have £200+ on there a week which we don't spend. I wish I could spend £76 on food and £64 on social activities.

    Some of their figures make no sense - like £40 odd a week on food. I never spent that much when I was at uni - £20 max normally.

    Hah hah hah !!!

    What a joke:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

    We are pensioners (62 & 67), don't smoke, don't drink, don't have holidays.
    The only thing right with that calculator is the income side except that we don't get HB or help with the mortgage!

    When I substitute mortgage for rent, we are £55pw in the red!!
    It does make me wonder how we manage. We are gradually reducing our savings which currently stand at just £3000.

    Or maybe we should be doing what the rest of the country is doing and claiming every benefit going to up our income.

    Looking at that and being totally reasonable I think I should be entitled to DLA of £37.90 min for me and £47.80 Attendance Allowance for my wife = £85.70 extra a week.

    Is it right that I should claim these just to up our income as I thought they were only available for the extra costs involved in respect of the disabilities we suffer? There aren't any extra costs - hence we don't claim!
    I just had to quote this for the novelty factor ;) *cough* Andy.
    *SIGH*

    I've just done the calculator, and apparently I need to earn over 9k more per year to sustain a minimum. It does amaze me how I manage.
    The opposite of what you know...is also true

    Which is an absolutely crap way to measure poverty IMO.
