Getting a meter fitted

Afternoon all,
I have been monitoring our water useage for a couple of months and have worked out we will save over £100 per year if we get a meter fitted. My question is though, how do we go about this? do we ring the water company and does it cost much to have done.
Thanks in advance.

Ring your water company and they will do the rest.
No charge.I used to be indecisive but now I am not sure.0 -
Hi,
meters are free to fit inside a property they have to be near your stop tap. they do charge if you insist on the meter being outside. if you ring your water supplier they will send you out an application form then arrange a "site inspection and instalment on the same day.0 -

Incorrect as it all depends on the water co in question, Anglian Water prefer the meter to be outside as its easiest to read if that is not possible it will be internal with an out reader fitted , both options are free, water co's dont all use the same system

Thanks for the responses, as suggested I phoned Welsh water, my suppliers and they said it is free to do and they will put some forms in the post for me to sign.

Just remember, once you've changed you can never change back! Nor can any future occupiers of your house.0

Incorrect you have a year to decide if the meter is right for you, if not you revert to how you were paying before, however if you have a meter fitted and revert back if you sell the new occupiers will automatically pay via the meter.0
