Internal Sat Dish by large window?

Would it work in a box by a large window in the living room?

Not the ideal situation and very hit and miss.

Some people report success with a Multimo dish so you could search that on Google.

You can read of successes and failures here http://www.digitalspy.co.uk/forums/showthread.php?t=780811

Agreed, you will at least need a window that is facing in the right direction, as said, it is very hit and miss.

I recall seeing some guy with a Sky Dish that was actually upside down getting reception through a closed patio door.

It did take up half of the room.;)
  • It totally depends on the metal content of the glass. With the latest sun blocking glasses you stand absolutely no chance. Otherwise with old plain (non lead) glass it is possible but depends on the angle the signal will be passing through the glass with a completely perpendicular passage through being the best.

Why would a person want to do this? Sounds like it would take up alot of space in a room and look rather ugly.

Many people are not allowed to mount satellite dishes on external walls and/or are living in temporary accommodation (students etc in halls of residence).

Some dishes are less ugly and a lot smaller than traditional outside dishes - such as the multimo (around 40 cm diameter for similar performance to an external 55 cm dish)

Dishes don't need to be ugly. The "Flat Antenna" on this web page is not obtrusive or ugly. http://i-do-it.co.kr/

Riccardw you may be interested in a bracket which fits the exterior of your window. You can see a pic of it here http://www.satshop.ch/images/003.jpg
