    Can you add some input to some of the Silver threads.

    They need a bit of common sense knocked into them :eek:

    I don't have the energy purch. It's like reasoning with a Scientologist . . they're too wrapped up in their dogma.

    That wouldn't be a saving on VAT, would it?

    I call it saving CASH ;) for two reasons really as you asked. I wouldnt be able to claim the V.A.T back and as the decking had a ramp and will be used by a wheelchair user they (a company)applied for vat exempt only to be refused. But by paying cash and haggling down i saved over 25% off the original price.

    De1amo didnt realise you were the OP you seemed to have turned more corners than !!!!!! Dastardly.

    1) In times of deflation;

    2) In times of low inflation and strong interest rates;

    3) Right before you want to buy something.

    thanks--a straight forward answer!--
    -1) we certainly arent deflating(unless it includes house prices and rents)-
    2) neither low inflation nor strong interest rates-
    -3)watching gold for window of opportunity--it seems to be falling over the past 24hours but i see it as a long term bet to the devaluation of cash ie to buy something.-

    Of course cash is king and will always be.
    You can`t take a gold/silver bar into Asda to pay for your shopping.

    The time to have bought gold (if it`s possible without getting ripped off on price and charges) was when Brown the clown sold it off at $250 an ounce not when it`s $1400 like now.

    Cash is king when others don't have enough to do what they could do if they had it. That includes:

    1, Buying dirt cheap investments in early 2009 and grinning madly as they rose dramatically in value.
    2. Buying property during a property value drop and smiling as you gain long term.
    3. Paying your mortgage instead of having your home repossessed. Not living on benefits because you have money to live better even while unemployed or in forced retirement.

    Cash isn't king when:

    4. It's used to buy investments at high prices, during booms, that will then drop in value during the following bust. Buy low, not high, if you don't want to throw away your cash.

    admittedly asda don't take gold but a banknote from from a few hundred years ago is worth nothing (except collectors value) but a gold coin will 'buy' you roughly the same amount of goods now as then. food clothing , houses etc.

    In roman times an oz bought a decent tunic and today will buy a decent suit. but....

    In a few years time when golds at $3k plus or more you'll wish you had. What will your tenner be worth then?
