OP, you have to buy it. As tonynw suggests, use OpenOffice it is mostly compatible with Excel anyway.

If you have a child at shool, you can pick up MS office 2010 professional very cheaply (student license). Best way to get Excel, or use Openoffice as suggested. :)

  • Is it true excel 2010 is dreadful?

Spoke to someone the other day, who has used excel extensively for years, and she said do not upgrade to 2010.
  • I have used Excel 2003 for years - Well, errr since 2003. Before that it was excel 1997 I used.
I tried Excel 2010 as part of the beta trial on my laptop for several months.

I'm was sure glad to revert back to my main licenced copy of Office 2003!

I'm equally sure there are others who will like it - you know change is good for you types. I just found it more difficult to do things I wanted. I can accept it might be better/easier for the novice/occassional user but I'm as regular user the user interface just gets in the way and makes it more difficult to use.

    Others may/will disagree!
  • I'll disagree with you ChiefGrasscutter I quite like the UI on office 2010, but its each to their own.

This may not apply to you but if you are a student or there is a student in the family who has a .ac.uk e-mail address why not look at: https://www.theultimatesteal.co.uk Its a programme run by microsoft giving low cost licences for the office suite. Or http://www.software4students.co.uk/ again mainly education based licences.
