Apple customer service

Hi,
I have had problems with my ipad not charging. I made an appt at the Liverpool One Apple store and they told me it had been water damaged and that the warranty was invalidated. They then told me it would cost £180 plus vat for a replacement.
However in the next breath he said as a goodwill gesture they would replace it free of charge.
I've no idea if this is common practice but i was happy as larry at the result.

Had it been water damaged?
To me it just looks like they were making up excuses for a faulty product and then making it look like they were doing you a favour0 -
Presumably ipads have moisture sensors like iphones do.That gum you like is coming back in style.0

I have to say was majorly impressed with Apple customer support. My 9 year old ran up £120+ bill within a day on itunes via 'in app purchases' on a game called tap zoo. Had no idea this was possible, but essentially robbery targetting kids. I complained and a lovely lady at Apple refunded the money and told how to disable 'in app purchases'. I recommend anyone with kids does the same!!!0

Uh, they did replace it.
Another happy Apple customer. Shame all the ones buying PCs and laptops from Currys, Dixons, PC World and Comet ain't as happy.Hope over Fear. #VoteYes0 -
The majority of them probably are. And all those shops sell Apple products too. Are you suggesting that all PCs and laptops break down and that no PC or laptop manufacturer provides half decent customer service? Why does any minor criticism of Apple inevitably result in an attack against presumed competing products or their purchasers?Shame all the ones buying PCs and laptops from Currys, Dixons, PC World and Comet ain't as happy. There's love in this world for everyone. Every rascal and son of a gun.
It's for the many and not the few. Be sure it's out there looking for you.
In every town, in every state. In every house and every gate.
Wth every precious smile you make. And every act of kindness.

Usual apple tactics, there probably is a major flaw in some of there ipads, but they wont admit it hence your free "good will" replacement. From exploding batteries to macbooks innovative chargers setting fire to themselves to brilliant antenna designs in their phones. First they deny and blame their customers, then they blame someone else, eventually they admit they are wrong but only when they cant wriggle out of it!0

Minor criticism is different from an invalid criticism. 1 person had a charger that malfunctioned.
Someone is allowed to say all Ipad charges melt, yet I'm not allowed to say all laptops from PC World are crap? At least try be a bit impartial
Really? Do you think I suggested that 'all PCs and laptops break down'? Wow, talk about making stuff up to suit your agenda.
I'm suggesting that all these stores / manufacturers provide worse products and worse customer service than Apple, and the facts back me up on this.
My comment was hardly an attack, stop jumping to conclusions.Hope over Fear. #VoteYes0
