I bought an antennae from Maplins £9.99....Weather does not usually affect the Gps signal.....It is better to get a lock before setting off as it takes longer whilst on the move ..

Sorry for being thick but whats a POI?

My friend has the exact same one which he uses for work. As far as I know he has never had any troubles with it and uses it on a smart car with a heated windscreen.
You might need the ariel if you live in a built up area with tall buildings etc.
My uncle lives in Hong Kong and his sat nav was absoloutely useless. It would cut out every other minute or so.0 -

POI = Point Of Interest
You load them into the GPS's memory. You can then navigate to them or have them alert you when you are near one. Examples are hotels, McDonalds, National Trust sites, Mountains, etc.
Take a look at http://www.maft.co.uk/garmin/ for more information and free download.
You can also download the Speed Camera Database from http://www.pocketgpsworld.com/ for a small yearly subscription charge.Steve0 -

Points of Interest - locations marked on a map as it were. You can list all castles in the POI register and choose one to go to or want the nearest McDonalds or nearest petrol station etc etc. Speed cameras are also POIs.
Basically they are really useful. I needed to go to PC World the other day. I was away from home and no idea where to look. Searched on i3 and found one within a mile!0 -
smoggie4567 wrote:The external antennas for the i3 are fairly cheap, but I'd defo test it first. It uses a MCX connector - what ever you do don't buy the Garmin one, they'll rip your eyes out for one, just so it has their name on it, much better looking for a Haicom or other third party branded version. I used a third party one on my old Navman, worked a treat.
A quick google search for 'haicom mcx' brought this up >> http://www.globalpositioningsystems.co.uk/haicom-mcx-external-antenna-description.html

DR. BENWAY: "Very likely but there's no time."0
