Mine is almost certainly capped at the lower speeds, whenever I do the speedtest it's always at most about 0.3mb download speed (HTC Desire).

My question - how can I contact T-Mobile about this in a way that will ensure they actually uncap my speed (in a way I've read they did for others?). I phoned them once asking about the speed and they said the speeds for the WnW and WnW+ are the same (which, based on all my research, seems to be a lie). What did the people who managed to get the upgrade to faster speeds say? I'm not the best at haggling with customer reps, but I'm getting really frustrated for this slow speed I didn't know I was signing up for. :(

Download the speedtest app, run it at loads of locations and at different times of the day, save and export the results. Then you've got evidence that your speeds are being capped at 0.3mb for when you ring them.

I'm on the 3gb w+wplus and I know that my download is capped at around 1.9mb as it zips up to that speed and then stops suddenly. The last 4 results were 1907, 1950, 1917 and 1905.

Yes and let me guess your upload speed is around 500kbps ? Iam not saying do it. If you added Web Max you would see your DL speed increase quite a bit and your upload speed go though the roof.

Web n Walk + is without a doubt capped at 2Mbps. Quite often sitting about 1950Kbps, never much above. I did get a result of 3Kbps earlier today though!!!
I'm not convinced it's capped totally on the up, I usually see about 600Kbps, but I have seen it do 1.6Mbps up before.

Fairly typical result. As can be seen, upload around the 500Kbps figure and download close to 2Mbps.

This one, not so good download but the upload is a lot quicker. Test completed at a quiet time of day.

Very strange. All the phones we tested on W&W+ did not go above 500kbps upload speed. As soon as Web Max was added they shot up.

I just tried now. 1878Kbps down, 489Kbps up. My signal is down at -103dBm though.
Oddly though I seem to remember I used to get upload speeds around 700Kbps most the time. I can't say it really bothers me as the only thing I tend to send are Facebook photos and small email attachments. It's just the fact they are so secretive about the capping.

    Hi
    Can someone help aandroid toddler....
Do these tests relate to mobile broadband? Or / and browsing speeds on the phone? Sorry - a bit confused if the discussion is about the speed of phones, or on mobile dongles for laptops, or both :o !

Have recently purchased an android phone, so supposed to be 3MB allowance.
I downloaded apps showing T-mobile signal strength (-95dbm), usually 3-4 bars.
Speed test on the phone doesnt come above 20-30 up and downloads, but when doing the download it spikes right up, then settles down mor or less same as upload (ie 25ish kpps).

Is my speed really low? Thinking of calling them but wondering what to say?

PS - does the distance from server matter? Im about 120 miles from the closest (Morecambe)

(Wifi at home gives results of 9120 up and 620 max down)

Do you definitely have a HSDPA connection? (i.e. H showing at the top, not G)
25Kbps is pretty slow but fairly typical to GPRS.

T-Mobile isn't immune to areas of very high congestion, but in my experience it's more consistent than some of the other networks.

Speedtest.net isn't very accurate for measuring upload speeds on GPRS.
Your data speeds are as good as they are going to get on GPRS. It looks like you live outside of the 3G coverage :(
