    Welcome to all joining.

You allways keep these threads good dojo:T
  • Well I suppose I better join in then :o.

Friday the 25.02 for me and yeah I am not proud and just hope it all will be fine.

Wanted to do it 4 years ago but he cccs said no you cant.
They put me on a plan and I had to repay for the next 15 years. Ok my debt so I paid in.
After paying over £12000 to the cccs it just came out that my debt only went down by £5000 due to charges by my creditors .
They said we just have to keep paying and one day they stop the charges.
Well sorry to say but I had enough.

I lost my house and I am renting now so I got nothing to protect there.
Got a good job but I am not willing to pay for the next 20 years.

Went to my local Citicen advice and they just said I should have done it 4 years ago so many thanks to :Tcccs :T.

I am not proud as I said before but enough is enough.
Scared? Yeah I am but thats only human I think.

So many questions and dont know where to start.

Lost job Jan 2010 unemployed since and on JSA
Total £20k worth of unsecured debt paying token payments on each
2 x Mortgages (one property) 2 months arrears

Am thinking of selling up but sale wont clear both mortgages. Have spoken to the 2nd mortgage company and advised this is the case and they said can not categorically give any theoretical figures until the event is actually happening but in a nutshell, they could block they sale as they know they arent going to get back the full amount or allow the sale to go through and the difference do as an unsecured debt.

I have had enough now of this and want to get on with my life and am therefore trying to educate myself as to what is best.

Is Bankruptcy tomorrow an option for me. I understand that the unsecured debt would be included and arent savvy to how the mortgages would work. Do I go BR and hand back keys to company
If you see a penny, pick it up, all day long you'll have good luck !!!!!! :D

  • Hi

After weighing everything up for a few months now, I have decided that BR is the only option for me. My court date is tomorrow (8.2.11). I don't feel nervous about the actual court bit; just really anxious about what happens next.....

I just have everything crossed that it all goes smoothly with the OR afterwards, I think my BR case is fairly straightforward with no property, no assets and no surplus money! My husband lost his job in January so without his income we are well and truly stretched!!! I just hope that I have completed my forms properly. I have had to guestimate our income as we are waiting to see what benefits we are able to get.

I think my biggest fears are 1. our landlord being notified, and 2. appearing in the local paper (which I'm told is unlikely). I am so ashamed of this situation and that for the past few years I have been 'keeping up with the Jones' and getting myself into further debt. Time to get real and grow up...

Please add me to the February club and I will keep you posted on how it goes.

Also, I will post this on the main forum but in case it helps anyone else... I am a member of the Unison Trade Union and they very kindly gave me a grant of £600.00 for my court fee's. I had no idea that this was an option but they have a department called Unison Welfare and help people (who are members) everyday with debt and bankruptcy issues. They were so helpful.

    Best regards to all, Kimbles76 x x x

Hi Kimbles76, Thinking of you tomorrow and you'll be fine.....honest. Some OR's do contact Landlords and some don't (I told mine and they were fine, think they were pleased I'd told them.....my OR did write to them too!) and it won't be in your local paper. Re the OR interview It's nothing to worry about, its just for the OR to get a feel why you went BR. Before the call just look through your SOA so your familiar with what you said. If you have not sent off your bank/credit statements have them to hand. The OR will just go through your 6.28/SOA with you. Before the call have a big mug of tea ready or a bottle of water, and while they are writing things down you can have sips of tea/water, so you don't feel you have to fill in the pauses. And if you don’t know the answer to a question just say so. Do have a list with all questions ‘you’ want to ask.

    Best wishes
