Doubt it - if the person just asked for gin, they still got gin. Usually they give you the house gin but it would have made sense for the staff to list the alternatives if the house gin was out of stock.0 -
they should say "we are out of gordons but we have gin X, wuld that be ok"No Links in Signature by site rules - MSE Forum Team 20

It varies. 2 to 3 weeks is not unusual. They have always responded to my emails by letter in the post. That is for both complaints and congratulations.0 -

would depend on the cricumstances, and I was being rather pedantic over it (I would have kicked up a fuss there and then).
Also, the last time I complained about this chain, I got a response 3 days afterwards (it was quite serious), but a friend complained about the cleanliness of his local (it was quite disgusting) about 8 weeks ago and still hasn't had a response despite two reminders!Don't bother trying to sue me - I've got no money!0 -
I worked at a Wetherspoons some years ago. The company training was the most strict of anywhere I have worked. The staff should be trained to ask you which gin you prefer if you don't specify. We were normally told to upsell the cheap double house brand anyway. In fact, the staff should be trained to ask a ridiculous amount of questions whatever you order. Whether they do or not is something different.0

NEWS! today i had a reply from wetherspoons in the post;
dear mr ,
thank you for taking the time to tell us about your recent visit to one of our pubs.
i am sorry that the service you recieved in the pub that day did not meet your expectations.
i have passed your comments to the area manager for the pub, who will remind the team the importance of getting things right.
we also run a 'mystery customer' type scheme monitoring standards of service and cleanliness in our pubs. we have arranged for this pub to recieve additional visits until the necessary improvements are made.
once again thank you for bringing this matter to our attention, and for giving us the opportunity to improve.
yours sincerely

this letter has annoyed me more as it is obviously a generic letter as it makes no mention of my actual complaint.
i have rung them on the number provided to explain this. they have said they will get back to me.........0 -
Did you get any vouchers????................
If not then give them hell!!!!0 -
not a thing.- just the letter.0

People shouldn't complain to get vouchers; complaints should be constructive to improve matters. If everyone who complained did so just to get something out of a company, that company would eventually go bust.:EasterBun
