Pretty sure that sort of disclaimer isn’t worth the paper it’s written on if the damage is due to the negligence of the council or its employees0 -

It works both ways.0 -
You have to show the council neglient. I dont see how you can do this unless you can show they knowingly left a risk to users lying about. Getting a puncture on their land does not automatically make them liable; especially due to the type of land and its use.0

I'll separate if needs be, but a recent topic on breakfast TV said that 50% of the UK pop don't have £500 in the bank, again:eek::eek: I find that both shocking and worrying, folks really have been brainwashed into the buy now pay later world.
We fall into that category, live from payday to payday and the only savings we have are for our annual holiday in Blackpool. We don't have any 'buy now pay later' debt, other than the mortgage.
This is just the way things are, and we have no complaints.
Some people can be so condescending just because they have some savings. Well just think of it this way, you can't take it with you. Live life, get laid, and get paid.[SIZE=-1]To equate judgement and wisdom with occupation is at best . . . insulting.

If it's a good tyre, ask a local cheap tyre shop how much a puncture repair will be.
Chance of getting council to pay out almost zero.0 -
Happened to me once, couldn't prove where it had happened. Give them their due though they do sweep up regularly at our tip and there is a large volume of crap being thrown away.Nothing to see here, move along.0

OP has been watching whislt cowering in a corner
. Apologies if my original post was misunderstood - I was asking for help. The vitriol I was hit with somewhat shocked and upset me. Was also mortified and angry to think I am part of the blame/claim culture which is why it has taken me this long to calm down and reply. For ref my eyesight is fine, as is my driving – but the unlit area in which it happened on rough loose tarmac was not conducive to seeing a dirty object whilst driving.
No-one wants to live payday to payday – sometimes it just happens – in our case because my parents have both recently been in hospital and require care I cannot give being pregnant (lifting., bathing etc) and/or at work. I consider myself reasonably well paid but the cost of carers is crippling. Social services provided for 2 weeks, but since then it has been down to the family to pay – approaching £2000 a month, DLA doesn't come close. Anyway – that's off topic.
The payday fairy has now been and I have now managed to get it repaired (£15 was the best I could get locally - wish I knew where to get it cheaper or free as suggested but c'est la vie. At least it wasn't a new tyre)
Thanks to those who did try to help and read the post:). The tyre well is not deep enough to hold a full size tyre, and I would class that as a luxury item anyway right now. There really was no other time we could have made it to the tip, or we certainly would have (they are open 8-8 every day). And I couldn't easily implement the "take the cheaper car" suggestion as I only have the one…….
I wrote to the council and have been passed to their claims department. If I get anything back then all well and good. If not then I'll suck it up.
Sorry - I'll think twice before posting again.0 -

Sounds like the best plan, write to them, it's worth the price of a stamp, if you don't here anything or they refuse, C'est la vie!0
