  • We have the new "household waste recovery centres" here too. I've always noticed them to be clean and tidy with staff on hand, unlike the old "tips".

Why is it that some peeps always want someone else to blaim/claim from.

Is it just me who would get the puncture repaired or tyre replaced and forget about it

OP there is no problem driving on the space saver just leave home a litle earlier

Exactly, you do have to expect that there will be a chance of debris at a council site like that, and remember it was most likely left by someone just like you, not the council itself. Also, maybe going in the dark isn't the best of ideas. Pay up and be more carefull next time I'm afraid. At least you did have a spare which is better than some. Chance of getting another one in the space of a week is not impossible but highly unlikely, ;)
I like the thanks button, but ,please, an I agree button.

Will the grammar and spelling police respect I do make grammatical errors, and have carp spelling, no need to remind me.;)

Always expect the unexpected:eek:and then you won't be dissapointed

I'm another that doesn't understand this claim culture.

These people are usually the ones moaning their council tax keeps going up. And you wonder why...

I expect there is a disclaimer stating any loss or damage is is not the responsibility of the council on a sign somewhere, in between all the H&S notices.

but make sure you don't get another puncture, if you do you'll be looking at recovery which will make getting a new tyre look cheap

Well I did think the same and although I too find it hard to believe, some folks really do have to live payday to payday:eek:, but that'd a whole different topic.

I'll separate if needs be, but a recent topic on breakfast TV said that 50% of the UK pop don't have £500 in the bank, again:eek::eek: I find that both shocking and worrying, folks really have been brainwashed into the buy now pay later world.

Now now, we're not supposed to be judgemental about people with debts and/or low incomes and whatnot on this forum.

I've been there. Earning 18K a year and having to provide my own car for work, doing 60,000 miles a year and having to claim back the fuel receipts at the end of the month. There were a number of months when I had to minimise all other costs, including food, just to be able to afford enough petrol to do my job and a puncture would have had me visiting the payday loans people and paying 2000% APR.

Punctures are a fact of motoring I'm afraid. Same as stone chips, breakdowns, etc etc.
  • my local tip has a disclaimer notice up saying that due to the nature of the site, vehicles entering these premises do so at their own risk, they will hold no resposorbilty for damage caused to a vehicle entering or leaving the site.

im suprised your tip was open after dark? mine closes 4pm weekdays 1pm sat during winter months, from april theyre open till 6pm weekdays 3pm sat's.
