in Credit cards
Hello
This is going to sound like a daft question but I am in the middle of applying for the Halifax Reward Clarity Card (the one that offers cashback) and I'm a little confused with filling in the bank account details section. Are they looking for my main current account (which is with RBS btw) or the Halifax Reward Current Account that I have with them? i realise that the cashback extra is only available to people who pay in the £1k into the Reward account.
The problem I have though with the Halifax one is that I have just opened it so for the number of years and months I can only put 0.
Can anyone advise?
Kind thanks!

They mean any current account notnecessarily the Halifax one (as they will appear under one profile when you get approved). This just part of credit scoring and matching up of details.0

It's an underwriting question, not a qualifying for reward question.
I agree with Mayling. Put your RBS details.0 -
If I understand the cash back deal with this card correctly, Halifax are expecting you to pay £1K or more into your current account *at Halifax* or hold an Ultimate Reward Account (whatever that is). I'm just looking at the leaflet on this card so am cribbing from that.
If you meet the above then you qualify for the cash back on the card. If most of your transactions go through someone else then e.g. RBS then while they may use bank for credit checks you won't get the cashback unless you use an account at the Halifax.
The really interesting (sorry for that!) bit is the lack of charges for purchases and cash both in the UK & overseas.
Everybody else charges even on a debit card (now that Nationwide began charging since last November). The meek will inherit the earth - except for the mineral rights. John Paul Getty.0 -
I'm not sure of your query brush-head but no DDs no Standing orders need go through halifax, just 1k in every month. As I have this account.0

Okay, I submitted my application using my RBS account and I've been given their so-called 'instant decsion.' I've been rejected!
I don't understandWhat criteria have I not met?

did you apply based on an offer in your online banking?0

The Reward account is a high scoring account, is your credit file intact?0

If you hold a current account with them, even if it is not your main account, they will weight the performance of this account against your application heavily.
Having a bank account and running it well, with your salary coming in, DDs coming out, with a decent average balance, open for a while, you stand a better chance of getting a card from that bank.
The converse is also true.
When did you last check your credit file? Have you opened any new accounts recently?Cashback Earned ¦ Nectar Points £68 ¦ Natoinwide Select £62 ¦ Aqua Reward £100 ¦ Amex Platinum £48

No, I applied through the direct credit card application link. Now come to think of it I should have used the link through online banking once I've been set up.The Reward account is a high scoring account, is your credit file intact?
I checked my credit report via annualcreditreport and it seems fine. However, it only dates back to 2008 which is a bit strange. Is it not supposed to be always up to date?
Halifax have used Experian to make a decision though. If you hold a current account with them, even if it is not your main account, they will weight the performance of this account against your application heavily.

I checked my credit file last night and all seems okay although it does show only 2008...I don't know if this is right? I've hardly ever missed a payment even if it's just making minimum payment. And I have 2 credit cards, would this have contributed to their decision?
I've recently opened 3 accounts - 2 x current and one regular savings. Oh, and an ISA but I thought these don't affect your credit scoring??
Is it possible to reapply? And how long before you can reapply?
Can anyone advise, many thanks!0 -
Having too many searches in a short period of time can affect you. The 2 current accounts will DEFINITELY have searched you, not sure about the savings though.0
