I remember there being a thread about this but have no idea what it's called or what keywords to search for so if this needs to be moved then please do!
Got a phone call the other day from a guy who said that they are somehow affiliated with the government (lolz) and have been passed on my details because I have been in a 'minor' car accident in the last three years.
I told them I don't drive and I've never been in one as a passenger either so I'm not sure where they got that information.
And then they said... 'Sorry for disturbing you, we will amend our records because we clearly have incorrect information, have a nice day' and hung up :eek: I was expecting abuse and insistence I was wrong, what's going on there???
The number was 01516691184, have posted it on whocallsme too.

The Daily Telegraph's 'Honest John' has been banging on about these criminals and their activities for a long time. At least once a month he deals with a query like yours and publishes details of whichever consumer protection agencies are supposed to be investigating them, as well as details of a law firm which, I think, is mounting some kind of class action. I don't have any of those details here but there's an 'Honest John' website which he's been running for years independently of the Telegraph, so you may find more info on there. Just Google.0

The company in question is almost certainly Accident insurance bureau. See

That certainly sounds like them and I think that's the thread I found before but I just found it odd that they were so polite when I told them they had the wrong person! How desperate do you have to be for business though to call up random numbers in the hope that someone has had an accident in the last 3 years?0 -
Or it could be this lot, who are based in Liverpool:

I get a couple of text messages a week from an accident claims company telling me I'm entitled to £3,000 compensation for my recent car accident (which has apparently left me with a bad case of amnesia
)

I get these as well. I ignore them but I am guessing that they tend to follow up on text messages with a phone call- i had one on friday and didnt think much of it. Well, if you have not been in an accident there's nothing they can do so why would they waste time abusing you? It would mean less time to try and leech off someone else and it might make you more likely to stir things up.There are two types of people in the world: Those that can extrapolate information.0 -

I think the OP meant they've never been in a passenger in a car that's had an accident rather than never having been in a carMFW 2020 #111 Offset Balance £69,394.80/ £69,595.11

On the other thread someone posted they were quite insistent and abusive so I have to say I was surprised.0
