Can anyone recommend a cookbook suitable for an 11 year old?
She's vegetarian so isn't looking to cook beef stew etc but it doesn't have to just be a vegetarian book. Her friend has an old girl's book that's been handed down that has loads of good cake recipes etc and she was quite taken with that.
TIA

If she likes baking, the good old Bero book is a must and it only costs £1.50 :money:

Hello OP,
I bought this for my DS when he was nine, have just bought it for my DSD who is twelve. She looked at all the cookery books I've got (many, many of them!) and chose the Beginner's Cookbook by Fiona Watt, published by Usborne. It's got a great range of recipes and is clear and well written. Have a look online and see what you think.

In an MSE fashion, how about making her a cookbook from the internet?
Look up recipes for ingredients she is interested in, print them out, put them in a folder and add her comments as you go (guilt free scribbling in 'a book'). Something she might treasure for a long time.0 -

just tell us where it is and we'll find it....0 -

This is my favourite book that veers towards baking - and I don't really like baking. It's glossy enough to appeal to a youngster.0 -
I would recommend the Sam Stern book "Eat Vegetarian". I got it out of the library and, although I have tons of other veggie cookbooks, I have used this tons of times - the recipes are, on the whole, easy and pretty quick.
I have so far renewed the book 5 times - think I should buy it!The world is over 4 billion years old and yet you somehow managed to exist at the same time as David Bowie0 -
