in fact for those of you who felt i was getting one up on the system and sitting there enjoying my spoils. as i stated but was obviously so easily overlooked. i was in hospital for almost a year on and off, having very painful operations and being sedated for days on end and am still on large amounts of morphine. i couldnt even read a letter let alone answer one! and while in this state my husband left me taking every penny we had including money we didnt have.

Sorry that says she was in hospital when this happened or am i reading it wrong..? Where is my assumption there?

I suppose it depends which version you read. Note date 2008

i have been married for years, living together for 6. we have no children together but grown up kids from previous relationships. shortly after marrying had accident and had to stop work and start claiming DLA AND IB my company also started paying me an income loss type of insurance they had that i knew nothing about which is about £350 a month. this and my benefits is my only independent income my husband earns £30,000 a year and so we managed ok. when we met i had £12,500 in savings and he had awful credit history and debts allover the place including a £12000 loan he had been ignoring for months. being an ex bank worker i knew about loans etc and over period of 3 years helped pay off debts from his last relationship and after a year also set up a monthly payment with halifax to pay back this £12000. whilst getting married we became one of the many thousands of people who received tax credit payments incorrectly which we had agreed after years of dispute to pay £15 a month each (thank god this in joint names) which i am now reconsidering disputing having read details on an advisory site similar to this. i now have a £12000 loan too from halifax in my own name which we jointly ran up and paid £6000 of my savings to a finance company to pay off his car. what with wedding and living all my savings are now gone and i have this loan and a £5000 credit bill hanging over me. last week after a trivial row he packed up all his possessions and i mean everything and left. i had an accident over weekend and ended up in hospital with suspected broken neck and yet he still answered no ones texts or calls beyond the original call informing him of being in hospital.
So the debt was there before she had an accident and he left.

Sooo your slating me for quoting from this thread when your refering to another..?

That is my point, people are only too eager to criticise arn't they..?.

*EDIT* That does make interesting reading though and put a question mark on what she has written in this thread.

This is where problems arise..........Did he pack up and leave in 2003 or did he pack up and leave in 2008

I thought she said it had all been written off??

Edited to add: Having read the rest of the thread it appears that the situation is not as simple as I first thought. (Story of my life!:) )

Imagine someone holding forth on biology whose only knowledge of the subject is the Book of British Birds, and you have a rough idea of what it feels like to read Richard Dawkins on theology: Terry Eagleton

It's getting rather tedious now. But I was always told to humour people that may have problems!

Does it really matter when he left?
Does it really matter who spent the money?
Does it matter what she was doing in hospital.

    Yes, yes and thrice yes!
