Ok I sold my synthesizer on ebay for a tidy £210 on ebay a couple of weeks ago, being a good moneysaver and all that. So as soon as I saw the payment has cleared on paypal, I sent the item to the address on the ebay email, an address in nottingham. About a week later the buyer contacted me asking where the parcel was... So I checked the paypal email and he had given an address in london! I asked him and he said he had moved and supplied the new address on the delivery instructions on paypal. I have never once checked the paypal email when sending things before and have asked other people who have said the same. He's now saying he wants a refund if the parcel doesn't turn up! His friends in nottingham have been round to his old address, the tenants deny all knowledge of a parcel being delivered. So where do I stand? And how do I proceed? Another mistake i made is by only charging £10 for postage and packaging (everyone else was charging the same for this item) so I chose recorded delivery. However, post office couldn't offer me recorded delivery for £10 so I had to send it by standard parcel, with added insurance up to £200. This means we can't track the parcel and he's checked the listing and has noticed that I said it would be sent by recorded delivery - could this cause problems for me?
Thanks for your help!

Even if you had sent it to the correct address without sending by a Paypal approved method (over £150 = trackable and signature required) you would lose.
You'll need to sort your mistakes, and unfortunately its going to cost you.====0

If you want seller protection, you needed to have sent to the address in Paypal, within 7 days and via an online trackable method, with signature, as has been indicated above.
All you can do now is refund the buyer in full.0

Even though I sent it to his registered ebay address?0

You need to have sent it to the confirmed address in the PayPal email and listed on the transaction in your PayPal account.
However, if he just put the alternative new address in the "delivery instructions" on PayPal and not changed it on the actual PayPal account, then you may not have to refund.0

Think it was just in the delivery instructions, it said it was an unconfirmed address in the email. But now it says it is confirmed on the paypal site0

If you log into your paypal account and go to the transaction. It should say OK TO SEND. Then it will give the address, it doesn't matter if the address is unconfirmed/confirmed/verified or non verified. As long as it said OK TO SEND, you would have been covered had you sent it via the correct method (with signature and online tracking as was over £150) within 7 days of payment, to the address on the Paypal (not Ebay) transaction.
If the two addresses have come through differently, which occurs when the buyer doesn't complete checkout correctly, you MAY and I stress MAY have a polite moan to Ebay. If you are very lucky and very nice to them, they might just feel sorry enough to give you a nominal voucher, but this will be for a spend on Ebay and will no way mean they accept liability.
I think that is your only hope now.0

You must completely ignore the ebay address, it is of no use at all. You need paypal protection so all that matters is the paypal address.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. Eeek :S What i don't want to happen is for me to give him a refund then for the parcel to turn up, so the buyer gets his money back and my item. How do I know he actually hasn't received it?
It is insured for up to £200 so what I will probably have to do is refund him then try to claim the £200.0

Standard parcel does have extended insurance if you pay the extra, however you either paid an additional £1 for up to £100 or £2,25 for up to £250, there is no £200 insurance band so check what you have.
To make a claim you will need to state that it has not been delivered to the address to which it was sent, and that might cause you issues as it may well have arrived.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. But the buyer has asked his friend to ask the new tenant if it has been delivered and they said they have had no sign of a parcel..0
