Just received my orderer from Fraser's
I ordered some what I believed to be small
packs of coffee that where sent in a wooden
box in there sale, but it was not it was just
a packet of coffee I think the ad is misleading
and to top it all you cannot return food and
beverage items

Do you have a link to this item?
Did the item description say they came in a wooden box?
If it didn't, what part of the advert do you think is misleading?
On the website there is a link to HoF returns policy and it clearly says that food and beverages cannot be returned within the terms of their returns policy.0 -

just looked no it doesn't say it comes in a box
but it does show a pictureSealed Pot Number 018 🎄2009..£950.50 🎄2010..£256 🎄 2011..£526 🎄2012..£548.80 🎄2013...£758.88🎄2014...£510 🎄2015...£604.78 🎄2016...£704.50 🎄2017...£475 🎄2018...£1979.12 🎄2019...£408.88🎄2020...£1200.63...🎄2021…£588 🎄2022 £672… 🎄2023 £3,783.90 🎄2024…£3,882.57🎄20250 -
Hmm yeah doesn't say 'does not come with box', have you queried it with House of Fraser? You can also leave a review on the website, warn others.0

Also for only £4 that does seem a bit too good to be true, but they should say what it comes with0
-
I think that is a bit misleading. The picture shows 4 packs of coffee in a box. However, if you look at the price which is £4, it then says £3.33 per 100g, so I'm guessing you actually get 1 x 125g packet.0

If you look closely the packets in that box are actually tea... very strange!!0

I agree that the webpage is misleading. The box is clearly being used as storage, not a "decorative item" to jazz up the photograph.
I think you can complain under the ASA advertising code section 3 "misleading advertising":
3.3 Marketing communications must not mislead the consumer by omitting material information. They must not mislead by hiding material information or presenting it in an unclear, unintelligible, ambiguous or untimely manner.
Material information is information that the consumer needs to make informed decisions in relation to a product. Whether the omission or presentation of material information is likely to mislead the consumer depends on the context, the medium and, if the medium of the marketing communication is constrained by time or space, the measures that the marketer takes to make that information available to the consumer by other means.
I am no expert in these matters but IMO there should be a disclaimer stating "storage box not included"."Isn't it enough to see that a garden is beautiful without having to believe that there are fairies at the bottom of it too?" (Douglas Adams)0 -
I would definately agree that this photo is misleading! I dont think the price is "so cheap" one would think it shouldnt.
I would feel well miffed if I recieved one small pack of coffee! Well aint funny how its the little things in life that mean the most? Not where you live, the car you drive or the price tag on your clothes.
Theres no dollar sign on piece of mind
This Ive come to know...
So if you agree have a drink with me, raise your glasses for a toast :beer:0 -
I would have assumed it came in that box. I would email them and say you're returning it.0
-
Definitely misleading, especially as they show the box twice-closed and also opened showing the contents. The cheap price is presumably because it's reduced in the sale.0
