Or you could just look at the answer that has been posted by the OP ;)
I hadn't seen this thread and happened on the comp while looking for kitchen scales :)

If that above sounds shirty it's not meant to by the way. I am honestly doing my best to do what the majority want. There's just a bit of a grey area still that may be too hard to define and we may need to agree to disagree on?

Edit: I didn't post this comp to cause arguements. I actually considered NOT posting it because I predicted this might happen. Despite the fact that I am "pro Regulars" I am actually quite a reasonable person and am more than happy to go with the majority and listen to comments even if people think otherwise. I just need pointing in the right direction. I'm probably not the only one.

I thought, after the poll, that all comps are to be posted on the main board, and if it is a daily/weekly/monthly, then a link sent to the relevent sticky. This way, those who enter via the main board or by end date will get to see it, and those who enter via the regulars will also see it.
By sending the link to the sticky, you get the link from the main board so you can see if you have entered or not.

I might be wrong, but thats how i read the poll!?

I don't think that you are being shirty at all beffffff I personally think that if this comp and future comps like this one where posted as singular daily comps people who do there comps by end date and now have to rely on the Regulars stickies would have been upset as they would have missed out on the comp because it wasn't classed as a regular and wasn't linked to the stickies a bit like comps being moved from main to regs but in reverse

what should be the overruling factor when a new regular comp is posted (and I think that the new poll definition concludes that this comp is a regular) is that is should be visible to everyone that enters comps on both boards and if it doesn't fit into a proper given category and there is a grey area then common sense should prevail

I posted it on main because I got that bit.

But I originally posted it as a one off ready to post as 5 other one offs (unless beat to it) because it's a different prize, and possibly link, each day. So I wasn't sure if it was a daily or not.

I think Amilucky? has it right by quoting the "what is a regular" poll.
    But there is still disagreement.
I'm REALLY not trying to be difficult. Just want to get this right so I can get it right forevermore :)

    That makes sense.
    Thank you :)

The really great thing is that this particular 'competition' will be over long before the dust has settled on the 'is-it-a-daily-or-isn't-it? question.

without quoting everyone I think beffffff has posted this in the right place in the right way according to the results of both polls
it's a regular as per that poll so can be in one thread (and should be linked in dailies sticky so everyone sees it)
but has a definite end date as per the other poll so should be in mains :)

Admittedly the "In the right way" was with a bit of help :)

But with that said I'm a little clearer on what to do next time. Thank you :)

I think you are missing the point. It's not JUST this comp that this matters for. Regular posters need to know where to put things or we will be arguing about this forever!
  • Sorry if I caused any more kerfuffle. Didn't mean to. I was just showing that people's interpretation of 'daily' will always be different. I personally would never class a comp which was only open for one day( which the camera one is) as regular, because to me it's a one off. It doesn't matter to me in the slightest if someone includes a link if they feel it best, it just wasn't my interpretation of it.

    1) Would you also put a link everyday in the daily sticky?
No, I wouldn't have put it in daily at all if I'd found it, because I wouldn't have considered it one. This just proves that we all still have different views, but it's great that they are all being incorporated, hopefully.
    2) If not, how do you think end-date compers would not be excluded?

They're not excluded because it was only open for 24 hours and was on the main board with that date. That's exactly why I would have put them as seperate comps. If you comp by end date you would miss the first four otherwise.
    3) Would you repeat the details from posts #2 and #3 when you posted a new comp everyday? Possibly.

I'm quite happy with people who are much more experienced than me putting this wherever they feel is right. I only commented as beffffff asked people's opinion, not to disagree with anyone.

Anyway, apologies for bumping. I hope I have not offended anyone, or that anyone thought I was stirring things up again. That was the last thing I wanted, which was why I jokingly said how different we all were.

Thanks beffffff( 6 f's!) for posting, and I really hope you didn't take my post as having a go at you. it was meant to be light hearted but obviously it's still a touchy subject for a lot of people, and I should just have entered and moved on!

You didn't cause offense. I just want to get this right. Because if I don't get it right now I'll continue to get it wrong.

    But thank you :)

Oh, and I only put the "SIX fs" bit in my sig because I lost count of the amount of times I got asked how many f's lol I'm not that sad....I couldn't care less :)
