Getting rid of plastic smell in new kettle

The kettle is now two days old and I can stll get a taste of 'new kettle' possibly plasticy. We initially boiled and disposed of a number of times but taste still there (but not as bad as initially) and going nowhere fast.
Any suggestions?

Just keep using it, it should wear off after about 2 weeks.0

To answer my own question as it may help others. We boiled kettle, put in bicarb of soda, let it stand and then boiled several times throwing each boil away.0

My parents had the same issue with the plastic taste/smell. They weren't prepared to persevere and ended up using it to boil eggs in.0
