No wonder florists are going out of business. Wouldn't buy supermarket flowers for my house, never mind my bouquet

Whyever not? M&S do some lovely flowers as do Tesco finest range. If florists didnt add such a huge mark up for wedding flowers Im sure there would be more people buying from them. I used to work in a florist and the first hint that something was for a wedding and the price of the flowers would be increased dramatically (over and above the labour costs)

How very odd......... every single bunch of supermarket flowers I have had have lasted well in excess of 7 days while the last two hand delivered florist bunches I have had lasted all of 3 days before wilting.

Completely agree with you there. I ordered flowers from the florist for my mum for mothers day and 3 days in and half of them were dead. The Tescso finest ones I got for my birthday lasted 3 weeks (and were much nicer!)

I'm going to be making my own bouquets and to be honest they are incrediably easy to do if you don't mind the inconvience of making them freshly.
And for those that are comparing supermarket v's delivered flowers, there really is no difference between the two they all come from the same place. I worked for 2 years at a factory that make bouquets which did the bouquets for a normal high street supermarket with the exact same flowers as the very high class delivered bouquets. The only difference was the arrangement of the flowers and of course the price (approx £12 v's £120 for essentially the same bouquet).
I've got a bouquet in my kitchen at the moment that I got well over a week ago to practice making some buttonholes with and all of the flowers are as bright and alive as the day I got them.
Oh also a hint put them in lemonade to preserve them longer!
Remember never judge someone that makes a mistake, because in six months time it may be you that makes the next mistake.

Florists charge a ridiculous amount for wedding flowers, the price they charge, i could probably save money flying to Holland, picking the flowers myself, and flying back!! There are loads of decent supermarket flowers out there, i woukd definitely have a go at making a bouquet myself, then you can have it exactly how you want it.
