Actually some bottles are 4 litres now aren't they? Fu#$%ing Castrol comes to mind, they have been consistently reducing the bottle size and increasing the price. Whereas on the continent they still sell Castrol et all in 5 litre bottles cheaper than they do here for 4 litres!
If it's over the max by more than 2mm I'd take some out if I were you, and make sure the car is on the flat when tested -obviously-0 -
Just to update, as I finally got my car back today... 10 days later. This was a fuel injector problem, so thank you to everyone who pointed in that direction. The garage managed to sort it out in the end. Sadly, they had to get a second comapny to tow it in because of where it was, which cost me an extra £90, but I'm just grateful to have it back now!
My oil needing topped up seems to have been a coincidence... an unexcusable one on my behalf which will not be happening again!0
